Re-cooling my PC, high temps - Page 2

The GPU is at stock clockes, 920/1120

From a diagram, its a pushpull fan setup. It says that it pushes the air in from the rear and pulls it in, then the air clears though the top.

The case is on top of a table a foot away from a wall behind it.

So should I flip the fans around? Or think about buying top fans? As for the block, I'm not sure what it is. This was my first time buying a gaming rig (worried about not properly building), so I bought it off ibuypower, didn't specify on what the water cooling was.

I've decided yo buy some top fans, any good model that might work well with this case? Also should I keep the fans in the same position?

Do you care about noise or cooling?

Newegg says it has 1 top spot for a 140mm fan, but it looks like there is room for 2?

If you don't care about noise at all you can toss in one (or 2 if possible) of these bad boys:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835132023

Or buy a fan controller to dial it back a bit.

The most likely cause is bad thermal paste and/or the cooler not being seated properly.

Is your processor really running at 70c under load? If I'm not mistaken the maximum temps of those CPU's is 61C....

My Phenom II 840 on a air cooler, used to run at 50C at 3.7ghz. Seems odd that's yours is so hot. redface.gif

Yep there is room for two 140mm fans on the top.
1 side 120mm
1 rear 120mm
1 front 120mm

BTW how can you tell if its properly seated?

In the BIOS, i turned on smart cooling to 40C and minimum fan speed of 82.5% fan speed.

I've decided to replace my CPU fans as well, any suggestions on those?

With the GPU being a rear exhaust model i would drop the optical drive down a slot or two an mount that CPU cooler on one of the top fan slot as an intake if it will clear the ram modules. I would also make both of those top slots an intake and the rear an exhaust. Still positive pressure to keep the dust out and it would get the intake away from the GPU heat and turning your PC into an easy bake oven.

Thanks for the replies!
As you guys suggested, I just added two 140mm fans into my shopping cart.

I'd be willing to bet you couldnt hold your hand infront of that gpu vent. Also if the case is under a desk or a small area with a wall behind it, the heat being blown out the back is going to be sucked right back into the case by the CPU intake fans.

I'll use these two 140mm in the top for intake and switch the cpu fan around for exhaust.

I plan to replace those push/pull fans, so any recommendations on any other 120mm CPU fans I should get?

Rear fans in Push pull set to Intake.
Front fan set to Intake
Side Panel Fan(optional yet preferred for fresh air to GPU) set to intake.
Top Fan/Fans set to Exhaust to expel hot air from CPU Cooling Rad.

OR

Top fan/fans set to intake
Rear fans set to exhaust
Front set to intake
Side set to intake

IMO I think you will see better temps on the CPU with the first suggestion
You may see slightly better temps on the GPU with the second option. Unconfirmed though.

I have a HAF 922 with the first option minus the side fan. (Windowed Sidepanel)
1090T X6 processor overclocked to 3.8Ghz at 34*c Idle. Maxes out at about 55*c under full folding load. Ambient Temps in the computer room hold steady at about 75*F.

I'll try all those options once, I purchase these fans.

This is the set up I would use, I may instead set the front top fan as intake and the rear as exhaust (Or leave it out all together)

If you want to replace your radiator fans, what kind do you currently have on there? What kind of cooler is it?
