Mach ones aren't really that great. On load you will probably see -5ÂșC with a Conroe.

Now I cant advise all that much . However apart from the Loudness of one you may wish to consider the amount of Electricity it will use. Its not a cheap thing to always run !
really they arent that loud guys, or ive just gotten usded to mine either way a good air cooling system is prob going to be just about as loud,

however they do burn up some juice so it will raise the ol electricity bill some, i like mine though and will live with that issue

The cpu wasnt orthos stable above 3.2ghz no matter the volts. So basically my cpu is a dud but even with a dud i can achieve a oc that alot of people cant sustain on air and its fully orthos stable and can run 1m pi at 4ghz. I intend on moving on to a 6700 soon or another 6600 and new mobo so i expect to be at 4.2ghz 24/7.

It was money well spent and much quieter than a vapochill. Once its at boot temp the compressor becomes inaudible and you can only hear the fans which are on low. There are people that are on air cooling that have louder systems.

not really sure, for the past 3 yrs my electricity has been included in my rent so i didnt pay much attention to it, i just moved into the house im at now and am paying electricity but i dont have any comparisons as i dont not run it

i believe they are pretty close to a small window ac unit allthough i cant be sure if it varies much from there since that basically what they are a refrigerant compressor and a couple of fans

Couple of things to clarify
#1. Mach II GT, vapochill, etc read temp way off target. When i modifiy these units, sometimes, the temp reader can't keep up and won't read the temp as it is beyond their capability of reading such "cold" temperature. Vapochill around -60c, Mach I around -45c or so.. Mach II haven't had one in my hand that had working LCD yet
#2. Power consumption. Properly tuned units tend to consume around 200-230w with low load and up to 300w or so under heavy load (which I honestly think you shouldn't subject on most cpu in fear of killing one with high voltage for day to day use). Compared to that, small A/C unit will easily eat up 500-600w if not more. Is it negligible amount? It depends on you really. For 24x7 you WILL have to think about this issue. It would be like running another computer system on back ground.

Hope this cleared few things up

ok jinu117 so your saying that the lcd display and temp sensor or whatever that comes with the stock namebrand phase units dont read temp correctly or that they are off

Yes... precisely. Honestly they can be tuned properly with right matching component in action but... for whatever reasons, none of unit I have received for modification (over 15 now) has ever shown anything within reason (beyond 10c typically). I won't say froster is totally free of it either on the one MrDeeds is using either... that one reads off quite often too but could be warmer or colder lol...I think his unit was off by about 2-3c... he can confirm it with k-type probe embedded there with proper reader.
Lately, I've been using k-type probe enabled LED controller for such display of temp which is within +/- 0.5c of fluke I have.
Here is an example of what you can laugh on. The unit on my fluke goes down to -60c with no load for some time until compressor warms up. (vapochill LS modification).

Basically, it will go down to -73c than can't read further so goes into this than next thing it just doesn't understand that temp is that cold and acts as if thermal reader is borked The only time it reads somewhere close is 0 to 35c range... still with some errors. The problem intensifies around -15c down. So in essence your negative temp could be off as little as 10c to as much as 20c depending on individual unit.

ahhh man that sucks, looks like i may have to find a temp sensor thats more accurate to install somewhere

allthough i dont really go off evap head all that much maybe just to see if i need to clean out my condensor, i usually just look at the cpu temp to make sure its all good,

thanks for the info jinu its gonna come in helpful
