Well, spending 20 minutes to get a cut is pretty ridiculous... it would have taken me a month to do the flooring in my downstairs bedroom at that rate (it did take me 2 full days however). I'd say, on averate the OCD checks only take me an extra minute... but I always test the travel before pulling the trigger. I've managed to do some wrong cuts - but usually no more than about 1% of them.
The OCD basically kicks in because of the value I place on my fingers (I'd rather lose both my legs at the knees than the tip of my pinkie). I put a nice gash in one of my knuckles last week when a corroded nut let go unexpectedly while I was redoing my bathroom fixtures... cost me close to 10 hours in lost productivity because I could only type at half-speed for 3 days.
