I have mine operating, stable, at 3.21GHz

It may be possible to go higher, but my ambient thermal levels are too high, and therefore are preventing me from going higher.

aah ok, im pretty noob at OC'in stuff, but i got my mate who can help me out, would it be more stable with higher ram like 6400? instead of 5400?

Not really when you're probably be doing a 1:1 ratio. At stock speeds the RAM and CPU will both be doing [266fsb : 533mhz], so that RAM could scale up to 100mhz more probably which will then give you a [315fsb : 630mhz].

Depending on your current 533mhz modules, they could get that high with 4-4-4-12 timings and up to 2.30v for stability but some newer (year old or less) are not as good as they used to.

But "if" DDR2 800 you have in mind? It would definitely not hurt having a kit for that Core 2 Duo. DDR2 667 is already at 333mhz which on a 1:1 ratio, bring up that E6600 to 3.0ghz and "IF" you plan on keeping that stock cooler forever, then find yourself the least expensive DDR2 667 or 800 for that matter because the stock cooler is horrible for OC'ing. And you'll never be able to OC higher than whatever the stock can handle which is pretty much always a low OC.

Thermaltake Big Typhoon or Tuniq Tower 120 heat-sink/fan and some DDR2 800 will greatly improve your OC experience with that board & CPU.

For RAM, either the G.Skill DDR2 800 2GBHZ, Crucial DDR2 1000 sold at egg.com or Team Xtreem DDR2 800 sold at tankguys.com. all of these kits have Micron D9s which are great for overclocking. Let's see, G.Skill is out of stock Crucial is at stock and Xtreem are in stock.........

So either one of those two brands and speeds will do.
1-Xtreem DDR2 800 $288

2-Crucial DDR2 1000 $250-$266.

Can't beat that for the price.

For heat-sink/fan? The best is the Tuniq Tower 120 but they're out of stock again everywhere and thy cost from $50 to some places selling them for as much as $100.
So your next best bet is teh Thermaltake Big Typhoon for $50.

My E6600 is operating at 3.21GHz. However the multiplier setting remains at default, which is x9, and therefore the bus clock is 356MHz (~1425MHz QDR).

My board, the ASUS P5WDH Deluxe, is incapable of the CPU Lock Free function parameter at this present moment in time. Therefore the multiplier setting can not be changed from the x9 default setting.

toadeh,

I would suggest forcing your System Memory (DRAM) to operate outside of the default direct conjunction ratio (i.e. 1:1).

Running your system memory faster than your system bus rate can actually increase performance, especially with the Core 2 Duo (Core Micro-Architecture).

Performance increasment(s) can be seen across the board by increasing the DRAM above QDR(.5) speed, especially in certain games and mathematical calculations.

Latency timings are less important than raw data transfer (MT/s), therefore I suggest you concentrate your efforts on raw clock frequency, rather than purchasing average speed, tight latency, memory modular components

I suggest PC6400 (800/DDR2) memory components for acceptable data transfers, if outside of 1:1.
