So needless to say, I'm taking this pair back and giving up on Turtle Beach. If two of their top of the line headset was bad from two different Best Buys, then I no longer trust their quality. They were pretty nice while they lasted, but not worth the headaches.
Not sure what to do now, looking into the Tritton Warhead.
Same as my pair, the left cup is expericing muffle and crackling. Kind of dissapointing after spending $200+

Sorry for taking so long to reply but I have been busy as well as trying to get use to this headset. I did make a decision and ended up purchasing the TB Tango's for $200 at BestBuy (they were a deal of the day item before Christmas). The headset looks great, the controls on the headset are great but for a headset that costs over $200 I am very disappointed in the sound quality. Most of the chat settings are useless and cause your voice to sound distorted or as if your yelling at the headset from 20ft away. The 8 presets for in game sound are nothing special there's two presets I use depending on the maps. Some presets over emphasize background noises, while others muffle sounds. Basically in a couple days I will be returning this headset and then purchasing the Astro A50s. If you have any questions about my experience with the Tango's feel free to ask.

Took the A40s back last night and got the A50s. Literally played about 6 hours today with them and I really like them. *Cross fingers* I didn't have any issues. They sound amazing. I can't even explain how good they sound. The soundstage is extremely wide, when I first got them I continually took them off to see if I had left my surround sound on in the room because I thought the sound was coming from outside the headset. Overall incredibly impressed and I hope they continue to work great.

I did update firmware of the headset and mixamp the secon I got them home.

I have the Mixamp, and am not satisfied with it. Perhaps I should update the firmware? How did you do that? I got mine from eBay.

Edit: Probably worth noting I have the Mixamp Pro...

Only for the 2013/A50 Mixamp's.

On another note, I grabbed some A40 2013's literally two days ago, and they are wonderful. The mic is outstanding on Xbox, I can literally whisper and others can still hear me clearly, yet its not sensitive enough to pick up background noise. As far as the sound goes, I kept looking over my shoulder thinking I heard something behind me, but it was just coming from the headset. I haven't had a headset that fakes me out like that in a long time. Plus the fact that I can have PC audio incoming at the same time is fantastic, If I need to pull up a video on YouTube, I will be able to hear it, and still be able to hear console audio and chat. I can't say how happy I am with my purchase.

Can't update the firmware for this then, but on the plus side I fixed a problem with it and will try it out tomorrow in MW2.

This is exactly what I have been hearing about the Astro's. I can not wait to get my hands on a pair of the A50's. And Madman glad you update the firmware I have read that is crucial and really helps to improve the experience.

No, I couldn't update the firmware; this is the older Mixamp Pro model. It appears to be working better now that I'm just using a fiber cable.
