Also, not sure why you're so upset for having to do a simple reformat.

When you say that Windows Explorer won't auto-refresh you mean that it crashes and won't start up again, right ?

Since you are the only one who has experienced this issue, it would help to know a couple of things:

1) Did you uninstall the previous driver and do a registry/system purging of nvidia components before installing the new one?

Did you just install over the previous driver?

Did you check "clean installation" in the install options?

2) do you have ANY gpu monitoring/oc tools that are set tonstart up with windows (even a component service)? Were any running while u uninstalled / reinstalled the drivers?

3) Wth is explorer auto refresh thumb.gif

EDIT: still answer the questions, but I see from the SS that nvidia has detected an newer/same version of physX, which means you just installed over existing drivers trying to troubleshoot this,

I also noticed you use afterburner - uninstall that completely, or make sure its not set to run on windows startup.

Not doing a methodical diagnosis will probably F-up your OS/registry beyond repair-

I'd start with uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers like this

Disable all monitoring and oc tools. Disable any component services, and make sure they do not start with windows.

Disable sli if active

Uninstall physX drivers

Restart

Uninstall w/e other drivers BESIDES the actual display driver

Restart after each one.

Uninstall display driver

Restart

Optional : restart in safe mode and manually clean registry of nvidia components (make a backup before this)

Now restart in windows and under device manager make sure your gpu is labeled with "standard vga graphics adapter"

Restart again

Install nvidia drivers.

I recommend skipping everything except physX, and of course the actual display drivers. Only install what components you need and never install NVupdate.

I don't know why, but the last 3 beta drivers ruined my OC. It's so unstable with 310.70 that I had to pull back to 1230mhz (stock).
Yes, it brought some nice improvements on some games, but on the other hand I had to downclock a little, so... same thing, but unstable.

not even in the mood for an argument it won't help my anyway.

just a warning for everyone. avoid this driver for now I'm gonna try to fix my os. I still have a few ideas I could try so wish me luck.

Seems like you have other general problems and just need to fix your OS.

Unless you know how this is nvidia's fault I'd suggest not to throw your toys out whaling and telling everyone not to install like a baby anime character would.

Pretty sure this is just the 310.70 driver with a "Microsoft approved" sticker slapped on. Otherwise, they would have changed the driver version number.

I would have thought this myself... interesting thing is I was stuck on 306.97 for a while because the betas 310.33 and 310.54 and 310.61, and 310.64 would all crash almost instantly in games for me so I had to stick with 306.97 WHQL.

Than 310.70 came out, the beta version, and worked great with smoother game-play than on 306.97. When I installed the WHQL 310.70 last night, Heaven crashed almost immediately even though it should have been exactly the same as the 310.70 beta driver seeing as though Nvidia chose to keep the numbering the same.

I'm going to have to assume that the issue is being caused by a change made between the beta and the WHQL driver - despite the fact that it makes no sense whatsoever.

Its amazing that every driver update skyrim gets a massive performance boost. It seems like it has been increased by 300% since the time of its release.

Read my troubleshoot guide posted above, as your screenshot already shows some major issues (you installed an older driver directly over a newer/same one).

Your warning is unwarranted as this is almost certainly a user issue.
