just to make sure I understand clock vs bus

Ok...so I know have my e6600 stable @ 3.150 gHz (450 FSB x 7, 900 mhz ddr2 4-4-4-12). So even though this setup as a lower clock than 400 FSB x 8, I should expect more real world performance? I can also run this at a decently low vcore...

since its only 50mhz difference but everything else is going faster you may be getting better performance siince now your am and mobo are haulin, did you do some peerformance comparison betweene the 2 speeds to see what you really get

Hey Hiba...

I have been reading your posts. I like your logical, methodical problem solving techniques. Kudos

What testing have you done? There is SuperPi (v1.4 gives a 1/100 reading) and then the battery of tests from FutureMark (3DMarkxx series).

Have you run comparrisons? Did you have looser RAM timings on the 8 x 400 setting? When you say "real world performance", are you refering to benchmarking, gaming, video editing..?

Keep up the good work.

Syrillian -- Thanks for the kudos man...I appreicate it..I got the whole idea of scientific problem solving shoved down my face in grad and prof school ;-)

My super pi 1 million time is a little under 16 sec (not too bad), and I was assuming since the fsb at 450 (while 50 doesnt seem too much) allowed me to oc my ram to ddr2 900 and keep my timings tight at 4-4-4-4-12...

edit: now I am using the multi 8 and doing testing at 400 fsb...super pi actually runs faster (which makes sense as it is a calculation)...so..I may try to just find stability here, and use the 8 multi and increase fsb...Thanks all again.

yea....running with the 8 divider actually yields better results than with 7..so
