Can't find official answer. FX-8350 MAX TEMP

Thread Starter
What is the SAFE max temperature for a overclocked 8350. I've seen reviews where they have got up to 72'c and 78'c

I checked the AMD site, max voltage and temperature are not listed.

what is max safe stress temp for the fx-8350 when all 8 cores are 100% used ?

idle its 29'c

ok well the CORE temps shouldn't go over 62c......socket temp doesn't matter...I cant tell you first hand that my cpu will throw an error when stress testing If I pass 61 or 62c....if I keep it under that its stable for hours

Not 100% sure but I think if the max temp for the socket is 81c but I don't know about core temp. I can't even find the product page for the 8350, way to go AMD...

with core temps you mean the Package Temperature? it seems to be 8 at lowest and so far 54 at highest.. so 4.7 stable at 54'c core package temp under prime 95. Seems safe to go 5G then.
The amd details page about 8350- http://products.amd.com/en-us/DesktopCPUDetail.aspx?id=809&f1=AMD+FX+8-Core+Black+Edition&f2=FX-8350&f3=4000&f4=1024&f5=AM3%2b&f6=&f7=32nm&f8=125+W&f9=5200&f10=False&f11=False&f12=True

edit: hwmon for some reason, possibly because my board. Doesn't show separate core temps, it only shows Package.

Coretemp rc 4 is showing each temp separately.

well i dont know if this is true or not, but when my socket temp are like 65c while playing BF3 i begin to feel lag in the game, like if the cpu is trying to slowdown to keep cool temps
i thinkg its way better to take socket temp than Core temps.

simple way to check is leave occt open and it will tell you if your cpu is throttling, If its not throttling then its throwing errors causing lag, What kind of stress testing have you run?
