Now I have to choose between the X-Fi Elite Pro ($280) and the Audigy 4 Pro ($119!!!!!). The Audigy represents amazing value and has 192KHz sampling compared to 96Khz. It also has the same DAC, a smaller breakout box, remote. It also has the CMSS-3D effects.

Based on responses, X-Ram is a joke, so thats not a reason to go with X-fi.
Will I lose anything going with the much much cheaper (currently $150 instant savings at newegg) Audigy 4???

You wont loose anything, its a great card

I hope so. I know that the X-Fi has ASIO, but I dont do any professional mixing. I think the X-Fi also has a more precise sample rate converter. It takes me a while to decide on these things since I always try to pick the optimal (not always the most $$).

The X-Fi Elite Pro uses the same DAC's as the Audigy 4...

I also go a Klipsch 2.1 ProMedia system which has a headphone jack. This will replace my TDK tremor S80 system which I will put up for sale.

Thanks for all the advice - it helped me what I believe is the right decision.

You need to be aware of the fact that a lot of the X-fi stuff is sub par quality if you look at some of the dicussion boards you will find a neverending list of problems with the X-fi..All models..I had to RMA 2 of them myself.. I ended up going with http://www.auzentech.com/site/products/x-plosion.php

They now have the Meridian and I can't vouch for that but The Xplosion has been great for me.

It seems that because Creative thinks there the only game in town as far as sound gose they have let the quality slip and there customer support I have nevr heard much good about
