Fill port on loop

Thread Starter
I have a question about my loop, that is going into my bitfenix prodigy, I'm using an ek res x3 150mm and I have no clue on where to place the fill port, I would just screw off the cap however the holders it comes with don't seem to grasp it very well. Any suggestions.

thanks

Is the fill port not going to go into the reservoir? If not you want to be adding coolant right before the intake of the pump so bleeding the air out is easier. You are already going to have a hard time since the radiator is the highest point.

and I apologize on behalf of OCN for no one replying...usually a question like this is jumped on fast...LOL

Thanks for the reply, I'm a total noob at water cooling(first water cooled build) I planned as using the res as the fill port but the problem is that the grips for the res don't hold very well with the holders that came with it so I think it would give me a hard time to take the cap off.

I have some others from another brand coming in.

However as far as adding a fill port right before the intake should I be using like a t line or should I use a y and have one line going to the pump and a smaller line as a fill port.

thanks

i'm not familiar w/that res. does it have a G1/4 cap on top? if it does, the best thing to do would be to add a fitting and run of tubing off that to a convenient spot, secure it to the case and cap it. Then you can top it off easily & w/o yoga moves to get the thing filled.

Yea it does have a g1/4 on top however I'm not really sure where I would secure it to, it's already pretty busy in the case, By secure it do you mean like zip tie it?

thanks

Yeah zip-tie it to a spare case bracket/tab. If you leave some slack in it you can remove the sidepanel & fill it w/o needing to get the water near your case.

Or even better, get an XSPC fillport and cut a 17mm hole in the top of your case for a cleaner install. All good mods involve a dremel tongue.gif

heh or use a 3/4" bi-metal hole saw on a power drill...much easier.

If it is more convenient to use a T line that is OK too...just keep in mind that the top of the T would really need to be higher than your radiator or else you coolant would come out if the cover was off.
