Yeah, it sucks and it is stupid that they sold it before it was ready...but it happens a lot. I've just sort of gotten used to it I guess. I gone through this exact scenario on so many games that I don't even count them.
This is another reason why I never pre-order or even buy on release week. Games are never released in a perfect state...at best there will need to be a couple patches...at worst it will not even launch and requires months of work yet.

The latter end of your message is one I've known happen far to often with certain games I like.. Pre-order a game, the release date is moved a day, week, month, heck years at times (or even completely falls though, picked up by another team/dev and then ruined) ._.;

But still, I've never gone and brought a game on a promised feature.. If anything, I still only buy games if I genuinely like the (look of the) game. Although nowadays it's hard to find a game trailer that doesn't say '' Content featured is not part of the game '' or some other variation of the phrase.

I did actually buy the mentioned SotS 2 on a pre-order...about one hour prior to release so I could get a free DLC, but I have some trust in the developer...SotS 1 released as quite a mess, but they worked and got it fixed up and it is still one of favorite games (though it didn't take near as long as SotS 2 did). I also bought into the Star Citizen game for $40 because I have a certain level of trust in the developer of the game...and that game isn't even in a alpha sate...it is still early development. I am still worried I will never see anything for my $40...but we will see.

That is what I will pre-order on...trust. If the game is in bad shape, I believe they will fix it to the point where no one is dissatisfied. However, these have been the only games I've pro-ordered since the game TES: Oblivion. I just don't have much faith in developers to release a game that will match up to the demos and trailers any more...which are all promises by the way. So you are pre-ordering on a promise of what the final product will look like.

Everything I've read about this game and it's release to the pubic has been made clear that this was not a 'full release' game - but an alpha/beta. The only thing I feel that needs to be added to the steam page is the word BETA somewhere in there. To make it more clear that this game isn't in a finished state, but can be played. A lot like dota 2, if you will. Dota 2 is not in a state that I feel is ready for a release - yet the game has grown so much traction just because 'it's dota'.
The point of all this is - I can't figure out how people are saying this game is as bad as people say it is. I like it wwaaaayy more than dayz - if anything, I don't have to play the mini game that is the storage system of dayz. Good riddance to that pile. I don't enjoy having to manipulate my inventory just right, just to get something to work. That's the number 1 reason I decided to try war z out.
Granted, war z has quite a list of things that still need to be ironed out, but that's what patches are for. As long as the developers keep up with the issues that crop up, I see no reason to believe this can't be a full fledged, and flourishing gameworld to enjoy.

kind of funny how you mention the storage system, that has since been fixed in dayz, vehicles now save the minute you exit them. no more glitchy guns, the random barriers appearing as you drive is fixed.
the graphics engine has also had a slight improvement over how raw it was a few patches ago.

the private hive i play as a part of has no hackers because we only whitelist people and other clans we know. but thats a moot point, it keeps the experience fun.

i had a clan group of 6 guys last night on the server with me. i had just spawned and they asked if i wanted a chopper dropoff somewhere, flew me over and left me at NW airfield and flew away, didnt fire a single shot at me.

But I don't feel cheated, because I don't think even adding those missing features would make the game playable for me.

that bold part, is the reason i really didnt touch it, DayZ is becoming more enjoyable as it goes on now.

You know, I've actually been wanting to buy that game...it is somewhat of a legend...an icon of gaming. However, the cheapest I've seen copies of it is $20 and, yeah...I am not spending $20 usd on that.

I am going to have to stop you dead in your tracks and put you in line.....

The hatred towards this game is mainly due to being lied to about the product, period. Second, it has not been made clear that it isn't a "full release", in fact the Dev was asked if it is an Alpha or Beta and they completely refuted the idea and said it is a "Foundation Release", whatever in gods name that is. So you are utterly wrong on the game, it is absolutely being sold as something other than an Alpha or Beta, you can't say it isn't and call it this "Foundation Release" and then when people complain turn around and go "Well it isn't a full release yet...". Sorry, this is build 1.0 on Steam, being sold for profit, and has a working micro-transaction system.

This is their retail release! You can not argue that.

Now going back to the hatred part and why people are saying it is bad; It is because they purchased a retail released product that advertised a multitude of features, and these features aren't even in the game!

There is a ton of places for you to explore, tons of features in the works that will make the game a fuller experience, and anyone qq'ing about the game being a fraud is an idiot. And did I really read a comment about a "tiny map"? The map is huge already. It takes literally hours of walking to safely traverse from one side to the other. How on earth is that tiny?

Sorry, this isn't true. The Dev was asked, very specifically, if it was an Alpha or Beta and they said no. This is an obvious lie to entice people to purchase the game, as very few people will throw money at a game that is in Alpha or Beta. Even fewer will throw money at a game that only has half the advertised features...

That is one game you definitely want to buy used, though I Don't even know if new copies of it are available anymore....no need for the developer to ever see another dime from it
