Top one is old one, bottom one is new one

When I am installing my waterblock, I found out those 2 cards are slightly different. It seems EVGA revisioned(aka downgraded) the card. PCB design is slightly changed, and 8 capacitors are removed.

There are minor changes as well.

I want to enjoy SLIing 2 same cards, but now I found out they are slightly different.

I hate when these things are happened.

One of my 3 670 ftws is exactly the same,it makes no difference to the performance of the card nor the fitting of waterblocks.

Folding nets the same PPD and the 'gimped board' ,as you all so put it, didnt have coil whine while the other older designs did.

More/beefier/higher quality caps on a card are usually a good thing for reducing noise & ripple for better power delivery, kinda goes against the grain when adding & upgrading caps while modding to get higher clocks.

I feel like I have to keep being the devils advocate here...lol. I don't necessarily disagree with any of you, but that cap thing is like beating a dead horse when that's not the only thing that's changed.

Explain to me why you guys care so much about the caps when that isn't the only thing that's changed? If anything you guys should be complaining about the phase chip. Going from a 5 phase generic chip to a 4 phase cpu chip.

The 670 has always been 4 phase anyway, cant see the need for a 5 phase chip, probably a hangover from the 680 design VRM

so i just exchanged a 670 at microcenter last night and the new one i recieved is the full 680 board with all caps im so happy.
I understand things change, and eVGA has stated it should enhance the board but my first card with all caps is a beast, i can bench super high(1600 and can run 1535 stable) on it, but two of the "new" boards with missing caps failed to even hit 1300. Heres to hoping my replacement cards performs like my first.
