H80i + OC'ed 3570k Temps

Hey guys, I've got my new system set up and wanted opinions on my temps. I'm running my 3570k at 4.3GHz. My H80i has the SP120 fans (not the SP120L's that come with it) installed, and I'm using MX-4 TIM. My max temp after about 25 minutes of Prime95 testing, so far, is 74*C. Since it touched 74*C right near the start, it has settled in the 68-70*C range. Are these temps decent for this setup, or should I consider giving the TIM application another shot?

Hmm, scratch that, they just sort of spiked to 79*C and have since leveled off to the 73-75 range...immediately after it said "self test 512k passed".

The upper 70's is pushing it in my opinion. What voltage are you using (CPU and NB)? What is your setup (push or push/pull)?

Your temps are fine Ivy TJ Max is 105c so your should be more then fine up to 95c

And you are not running hotter this is not the case..

What the issue is that Intel put to much space between the cores and IHS so the cores heat transfer to the IHS is very poor.

So correcting this Via De lidding closes this gap.. After that your temps would more then likely be in the low 50s.

Ah well that makes more sense now. To me, just looking at the temps it seemed a little high, but after you explained why I agree. I know my AMDs, but Intel is a whole different story.

Wow, I've never heard of de lidding! Looks like I have some googling to do! Feel free to post any especially useful links to explain further.

Oh, and this is on stock voltages with the CPU and the mobo (z77 Extreme4).

Thanks for the link, Hokie83 (sorry for late response, been out of town for the holidays). I'm not sure if I have the balls to do it or not but I'm definitely considering it!! haha

I delidded mine. I've got the same cooler and cpu, running at 4.7 in the low 70's max. So you've got some room if you delid. I gained about 12deg C by delidding.
