Triple Channel Memory in Dual Channel

Hey guys, I'm stuck with an Asrock X58 board that is out of RMA stock and out of warranty. The problem is, one pin on the socket is bent so my last dimm isn't working.

I have 3 sticks of RAM for 6Gb. I went ahead and dumped all of them on consecutive dimms so now I have 6Gb in Dual channel apprantly. Is this gonna run fine?

Google says it should but how can 3 sticks of RAm run in Dual Channel. I thought it had to be even numbered?

Load up CPUID, and click on Memory tab, it will tell you in Channels #; Dual or Single.

If, for some reason it says Dual, then two sticks are running in Dual and one stick in Single mode.

But because you have 3 ram stick, then they will be running in Single mode.

CPU Z and Bios says it is Dual channel. So I have two in the white channel and 1 in a blue channel, So does it mean 2 are dual and 1 in single or is it all single?

cannot. I can't seem to access the last blue slot. one of the whites has to be populated before filling the blues; Intel's fault. But I do think that pin messed up the last blue and white slots. so I'm stuck with this vonfig or unless I buy another 2Gb and get 8GB dual channel

that sucks! as said 6GB will work ibeleive as others have mentioned. i would look at another 2GB stick if you think you could do with the extra RAM or sell your RAM and get a 2 x 4GB kit that should give you full dual channel instead of dual/single but really the performance difference would probably not noticable except you have more RAM.

sweet as long as it works. I'm happy. I guess the trick will now be for me with OC'ng but it doesn't seem things will be different with OC...I want to move my CPU from 2.8 to 3.8Ghz since there is quite a gain from that OC. I don't have money for RAM right now. for all purposes, 6GB will be enough size wise
