GPU OC cause CPU overheat?

Ok, I'm in a pickle here, I've got a p4 3.0ghz HT cpu, 1gb ddr2 pc4200 ram, Abit AL8 motherboard, and a Geforce 7950 GT, with a 500w power supply. I OC'd the vid card to a good point, and it ran perfect.
then yesterday I went out an bought another 1gb ddr2 pc5300 ram stick, and a new sony dvd burner which i replaced the old burner with, and added the ram right next to my other stick, I have 4 dimm slots, and my 2x 1gb sticks are side by side i the same channel.
After starting up the first time, it went to the regular motherboard load screen, and stayed there, I restarted, and it loaded all the way to windows, it recognized my new memory stick, and then I went about doing my normal stuff, I tried loading Ghost Recon advanced warfighter, and my CPU temp monitor started beeping at me, so I exited out, downloaded my motherboards recommended monitoring software (Abit uguru) and my CPU was running about 50c in idle, so I tried paring a movie that I had downloaded, basically unzipping it, and my temp shot up to about 75c and my CPU beep alert started *****in at me again. So I was monitoring it for a while and saw that any time a lil stress was put on my processor, the temp would shoot up, and my fan would roll full blast. I went out and bought a CoolerMaster Hyper 48 heatsinc and fan, installed it, and was still overheating the exact same.
All of my fans are clean, everything was installed perfectly that I just bought, and even with this new fan n stuff it's still running the same temp in idle and i'm overheating just trying to do regular stuff.
Is there any connection between adding my new ram module or OCing my GPU? or can anyone give me any suggestions, because I really don't want to go out and buy another CPU or motherboard.

well i wouldnt buy anything new yet

now is your ram the same exact as what you had in there i mean do they have the smae timings and so on,
also do you have this cou oced at all adn if so whats your vcore at

whydid you put themin the same channel and not do dual channel as youll get better performance

also would you be nice enought o fill in your system specs

another thing do you have the latest bios, if thats the bios thqat came original on the mobo its prob not reading the temps right so make sure you got the latest bios if possible

another thing how much as5 or what ever did you put on your cpu when you put the heatsinc on it

Are all fans working?

Is it possible you disconnected something (like a fan) while you were swapping the RAM / Heatsink?

if its watercooling mebbe the temp exceeded your radiators abilities. if its air cooling then the only thing i can think of is either your hsf broke, or an intake/exhaust fan broke and the video card increased ambient temps to the point that your cpu is overheating. or it could just be a voltage issue because my old motherboard will sometimes read the temps wrong and give me temps like 70-100

Sorry for the late responce, i set my vcard back to factory settings, I reset my bios to factory settings, I never OCd the cpu or memory or anything, the only difference between my ram is one is pc5300, and the other is pc4200, (I even took out the new ram that I just bought, so my entire system is back to how it was except the heatsink and fan, which is on perfectly. my system and everything besides my CPU is running at 30-32 degrees c, but my CPU is idleing at 50-56 degrees c, and when I run games, it says its going 75-80 degrees c. So noooooooo clue what the HELL is going on here, maybe something on my chip or mobo went bad, but all the connections are good with the fans, and I touched my heatsink and it feels room temp.
