I might bet blasted for saying this, but I thought that Saint's Row 3 was much better than GTA 4 (or 3, for that matter). To me, GTA always tried to be serious but joking at the same time. Saints Row didn't try to be serious at all, which made it better because it was 100% hilarity.

San Andreas hands down. Way better than 4 IMO.

I have put quite a few hours into SR3 and I find it extremely repetitive.

I won't go into why because I've already said it a fair few times on here and I can't sum it up easily, but I find GTA IV pretty crap. I know many love it, but there are also a significant amount of people that find it similar to me (boring, repetitive)

San Andreas is my favourite, followed by Vice City. Hours of fun to be had in either of those biggrin.gif

So I'm thinking of getting:

The Witcher 2
Assassin's Creed
Assassin's Creed II

Should I also get The Witcher (1)? Oh, also looking at FTL and it seems great, will wait for it to be at more than 25% off though if I do decide to get it.

I found AC1 to be really annoying. The guards would attack at the sight of me, and it seemed like I spent all of my time hiding instead of going around and exploring. I quit playing it about 3 hours in haven't touched it since. Your mileage may vary.

Smart, but doesn't sound like what the achievement was for. It was only a $1.24, so no money wasted.

I got the impression that I'd need to play through the games in order to have a good idea of what's going on, though. Is that not right?

I don't understand the AC storyline and frankly don't care too much. I care more about gameplay than story, and find Brotherhood and Revelations to be fun to play, while AC1 is boring.

I like both smile.gif

AC1 was pretty boring. It was tedious, but I still found a good deal of fun in it. With everything sort of moving towards that 'fast-paced' style now, those people will find AC1 rather lackluster. That being said, I wanted to buy the AC Pack this time, but forgot ACIII came out just in time for it not be ~$35 this year. Oh well. Next sale it is.

Also, my general rule of thumb, now, is if a game isn't $4.99 or below, I do not need it. I want the Witcher 2, Alan Wake Complete, L.A. Noire Complete, but I won't buy them until they hit $4.99, or until I beat a legitimate amount of games that will let me justify it. It might sound like me being cheap, but I have at least 100 games in back log (thanks to the Prince of Persia complete pack).

The Witcher 2 is an amazing game. Tons of depth, a great storyline, and excellent graphics. However, the gameplay/combat is rather strange and will take a few hours to get used to.

Assassin's Creed 1 is a good game if you love the story, however gameplay is repetitive and boring. It takes repetitiveness to a level of its own. The only reason I finished it was because of the story.

Assassin's Creed 2 is the best of the series, in my opinion. I haven't played AC3, but 2 had a fresh story, excellent gameplay upgrades from the AC1, and better combat/mechanics. If you liked Brotherhood and Revelations, but thought there was too much to do (Assassin Dens, stupid bomb customization, a billion different weapons) then you will love AC2.
