Thread Starter 
So I have WHS2011 as my main operating system. I live in Michigan ,and I am quite concerned about my server having all of its data preserved.

That being said, I have family in Texas, I would like to put another server there and have my main server at home copy all of its files over there. While, continuing to back up data in real time. That way I can have a duplicate just in case. Is there software or something in WHS2011 that will allow me to do this?

I haven't played with my WHS 2011 copy in a while as I've switched to a Debian server, but I would imagine taht what you want to achieve is possible over FTP. The only tricky part is deciding which files to sync.

If it's a small number of files, then just bulk copying them once a night or something is an option, or you can just set up a quick script on both machiens to report which files are in each directory, compare those lists, then upload the appropriate files.

I'm sure there are programs that do what you want that are compatible with WHS 2011, I'm just not aware of any.

Very possible. You could set up a VPN tunnel to your network and have the new WHS system back up your existing system.

There's better approaches to this issue....

You really only care about the data, right?

If you have a remote NAS.... create a VPN and connect the NAS as a share. Then do a server backup to that share.

You don't need real-time duplication.... just nightly (if that).

So it's possible... but you have to consider bandwidth and such.

Moving TBs of data is going to take time. Differential file checks over the Internet is going to take time as well.
