Yet Another Which Kit Thread

Thread Starter
Been out of the memory market for a bit, looking to upgrade "just because" with the way memory prices are.

Board: ASUS Rampage II Gene. Socket 1366.
CPU: i7 970, OC is tame at 4.0.

Looking at these kits:

Corsair Ballistix

G. SKill Ripjaws

Corsair Vengeance

Other suggestions are welcome. Since it's1366 I need a triple channel kit, looking at the 12GB kits. Currently have G. Skill Pis but I can't find these kits anywhere anymore, plus I'm looking for 3x4GB not 6x2GB.

Mainly looking at OC ability to 1800 or higher, and if anyone has any first hand experience with reliability.

If you're planning to overclock, I'd choose between Crucial kit you've listed and three 4Gb Samsung OEM modules.

The Crucials most likely use Micron D9PFJ or D9QMS memory which should easily do 933 8-8-8 and 1000 9-9-9, but won't do much above 1100MHz .. which you won't be able to hit on X58 anyway.
Information on Samsungs you can find in threads nearby.
