ATI Xpress1150 vs 9800 pro || Help Please.

Thread Starter
I currently have a 9800 pro in my tower PC and I was thinking of getting a new laptop.

Dell has a laptop for $599 which I thought "Hey 600 bucks not bad"

It has a ATI RADEON Xpress1150 256MB HyperMemory card with no options to upgrade. I guess this is why it says "Integrated".

Does this mean I cannot upgrade later?

I have no idea if it's any good or not, but I do know about the 9800 pro.
I just need a simple is this better or worse.
Can this handle BF2 or most importantly WoW

Thanks

It depends on which cpu it is combined with. If it's the same cpu, the 9800 Pro would be a better performer.

with a laptop, you can upgrade your video card, but it's hard to do, expensive, and compatibility is a huge problem. Go to http://www.mxm-upgrade.com/ and see if the laptop is in the list of laptops with mxm. (mxm is a laptop video card socket standard) I believe that dell sells replacement laptop graphics cards, so you might want to ask them about it.

Even if it can be upgraded, I would not recommend it. Just Get a laptop with a graphics card that you will be happy with.

About the xpress 1150: it is not a wonderful card, but it should play most games at low settings. I doubt you're going to find anything better for the price.

One you get around the $1000 range, you get the x1600 and the 7600, which are the best value. I'm not sure how much a laptop with a x1400 or 7400 costs, you might want to look into that.

Hey there, I just built a desktop using an onboard Xpress 200 integrated with a gig or ram and an athlon 64 3000+ and I have been looking at that laptop too. the states are pretty equal to my rig. There isn't much difference between sempron 3500+ and athlon 64 3000+ and if you upgrade to 1 gig you'll be set. My xpress 200 can run F.E.A.R. very well on low and choppy but runnable barely on medium which surprised the hell outta me. So my educated guess is that if my xpress 200 can run it on low and barely medium, then Xpress 1150 might run F.E.A.R. on medium at 30 FPS. I'll find out soon since I am most likely getting one
