Overclocking my FX 4300 - Page 3

I managed to lower my Vcore one step down, 1,472 V idle and 1,488 V Full load and its stable (games and boinc 1 day). Temperature on core is 59°C max and 70°C package max.
From numbers I have time to obtain, my 3DMark 11 ,performance test is the same as my OCd Phenom II (LOL)

More info later

I dont know if this helps but i have the same proc with a rather medium end msi board (970a-g46), and kingston 1Kingston KHX1600C9D3/4GX 1600 MHZ ram, and a second ago i couldnt hit 4.2 with prime 95 for 5 minutes without an error. well. I havent run memtest and everything else is 1 month old parts. Here is what i did. The ram was about 7 months old so i kept the bandwidth settings the same, and just adjusted the timings to auto (was running @ advertised timings from kingston) also note this ram has xmp profiles for an intel board not an amd.... Anyways, long story short. I can now easily run at 4.3 (havent pushed it farther) with auto vcor in bios and its stable as hell so far. running 30 minutes while i type this (in prime95). perhaps you should download a program like memtest especially if your running manual timings. Personally i have no idea why the ram would play a role (cheap board, bad ram), because in my experience of unlocked cpu's, they are completely independant of all the other parts (could be wrong?)... Ill let you know my further findings. btw my vcore is 1.43 at auto right now, but like i said, ive tinkered with nothing but the ram timings and have gained no errors in prime 95. i heard something about this board having cheap vrms tooo, though it boasts milititary class components.

btw one last note. OC GENIE, a program that came with this set it at 4.2 but lowered my ram frequency. I couldnt hit that myself with my former manual ram timings and be stable. dowloading memtest now!

Hey saw your post and wanted to throw out that i just 4.6 ghz on my 4300 using a geminii s524 and asus M5A99FX pro r2.0. Voltage is at just under 1.42 and bus around 226. Shooting for 5.0Ghz this weekend since i will be tweaking my sli 660`s anyway. If i can hit 5.0 or somewhere close stable I will post some shots.

Not so good news, my CPU down clocked itself to 4.2Ghz last night. Gotta crack the bios open and see what happened

I will try to hit 5.0 today as well I will inform the details later on, for now iv had it at 4.7 for over 3 weeks and its been fine, it never crashes and i guess i could say its at high stability.
Only .75+ volts, and 47 c when under load for prime 95 using the same HSF you own Gemini s524..GREAT fan looks better than evo 212 for sure!
I attempted to raise my clock speed to 5.0 with little success, at times it would reach windows to begin prime 95 but at an instant it would lock up, my bus speed was at 240 or 245 with 20 multiplier, then id try lower bus speed with higher multiplier, then i attempted to increase voltage from .1+ to .175 and .2+ extra voltage to hit around 1.5+ total voltage, MIND ME to say my temp would never hit above 50C throughout the voltage increase I use fan cooling system, but my case has multiple fans and 75F ambient temp.

Ay advise on how to stop this locking?

On forums i have read to increase fsb you must also have a good RAM and have a good CPU/ram ratio im not sure what that is, or even how to adjust it to a 1:1 ratio.

I have compared this chip with an OC 3.8 PII 1090t x6 and..wow this fx4300 is killer. Happy value buyer!
