I'd rather Square Enix, to be honest. I'm not even much of a fan of THQ's games, but the way Square handled the Eidos acquisition just about sets the standard for how big companies should absorb one another. No meddling, financial support, sharing of tech/development know-how, etc.

ZeniMax might not be so bad, but Square essentially lets Eidos run as they had before the acquisition. I can't think of a much better way to do things than that, although in THQ's case that might now be good for either party.

Why not Valve...? Oh I am so naive....

But I agree with everyone else here ... NO to Ubistoft buying THQ.

You don't use Steam?

Since we are discussing THQ here....

I bought Darksiders and Darksiders II + all the DLC for $13 via Amazon, for Steam, the other day. Was a link in the Online Deal section from another member. Anyways, holy crap does Darksiders suck in terms of performance on PC! It truly feels like I have taken a console disk and slapped it in my optical drive, and are trying to run some third rate emulator to play the game. Even using RadeonPro to force v-sync and other things, it clearly wasn't designed for PC on any level!

With that said, thank god I have an Xbox controller on my PC and the story and overall play is pretty damn awesome.

Valve has a pretty lax "Do whatever project you want to" work ethic which wouldn't really work well absorbing an entire studio, especially one with a bunch of commitments.

Anyways, I thought the investment group was going to get THQ on its feet again before selling? It wouldn't make any sense to buy THQ and sell it right away, as they became responsible for 10m of THQ's debt as part of purchasing them. I think clearklake's plan is to get THQ out of debt, let them put out a few more games in popular franchises (that THQ is working on anyways), then sell them while the company is looking good.

Since Ubisoft is looking for a "bargin", I doubt they are going to end up with THQ.

Do. Not. Want.

THQ has acquired rights some of my favorite older titles, such as Total Annihilation, Freespace, Red Faction, Dawn of War, etc. If Ubisoft gets their hands on it they will continue to spew the same garbage COD clones and ignore some of the better titles they have the rights for. Plus it will now feature game-breaking DRM. No thanks.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed some of the recent titles like Metro. But some of my favorite IP's from the 90's need to come back, and I don't see that happening with Ubi.

I really hope none of the big turds buy THQ. THQ and especially Relic has made so many great games I hate to see them suffer the same fate as Westwood, BioWare ect.

Whats with the Ubisoft hate.
I have managed to play games from Ubisoft both ways just fine.
They are also cheaper as retail compared to EA games for example. If you want them free of charge you can get them that way as well smile.gif

Comparing EA to Ubi is a little unfair as Ubi has better games story wise in my opinion.
If Ubisoft can save some of the THQ names it s ok ,better than seeing them gone.

I take Ubi over EA any time ,the Ubisoft game developers have much more imagination than EA will ever have.

No bloody thanks!

I would be fine if Valve bought them however, or somebody else who isn't so bad to PC gamers. *coughCDPR?cough*

What's so bad about Assassin's Creed 3 and Far Cry 3? Ubisoft also put them on Steam...

Ubisoft would have the final word on that, however they'll be looking at Steam for Linux just like every other developer, THQ only said it loudly for everyone to hear so we'd (maybe) buy a bunch of their games to prevent them being bought out.
