[MCV]Ubisoft plots THQ bid - Page 5

It seems that all of this retarded Ubisoft hate is based on the one DRM argument. Didn't Ubisoft announce that they were stopping with all the DRM nonsense? I mean Ubisoft isn't that bad guys. Be happy it isn't EA or Activision.

LOL, did everyone forget that Ubisoft totally dropped all their intrusive DRM from their games? OR are we still living in the last two years? Wake up? UPlay acts like Steam... Steam is ok? Then UPlay is ok. Origin is ok.

The alternative is that no-one buys THQ and their IP goes up for sale to the highest bidder and some crap studio gets some games and tries to milk the ever loving crap out of them.

Ubisoft aren't bad and they don't put out bad games.

If it really was UPlay=Origin=Steam then there would not be a problem. The issue is that neither Origin or UPlay is anywhere near as good as steam. Perhaps one day they will be but as it they are now having to use UPlay or Orgin is a serious turn off.

I agree with this.

I believe Steam was just as bad/unstable in its early years, I also believe that Origin and UPlay will improve to the point where they are as good as Steam.

However, I actually dislike the idea of many distribution services. While competition is good, making me open different applications to play different games is something I hate.

Define "as good as" Because UPlay does some things better than Steam. For instance, they sell physical products on their store, their achievements carry points that are used for DLC ((albeit free DLC, but it makes achievement collecting worth while. It's kind of fun.) and their Offline mode works without having to be on the internet (at least once for Steam).

Uplay is fine and a good competitor to Steam, but you know what makes it good, too? Have a look on Steam for Far Cry 3. Can you see it? Yes? Good. So, not only do they sell the games themselves, they're not stupid enough to alienate people by going exclusive with their games.

There is nothing wrong with UPlay or Ubisoft.

Although i would have preferred Paradox Interactive to buy them out but Ubisoft is far better than EA for obvious reason. Activision is almost as bad, Until they lauch their own shop... Activision is Apple but with games.

BUT BETHESDA!?

Are you serious, did you or did you not take twelwe speedballs and a shotgun blast to the brain?
In the last ten years Bethesda has released two dragracing games, 3 TES games and a non canon version of Fallout, sure some people might like it but it's not Fallout.

Oh sure they've published titles to in the last ten years:
Family Card Games Fun Pack
IHRA Drag Racing 2004
Pirates of the Caribbean
Puzznic
Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow
Star Trek: Encounters
Star Trek: Legacy
Star Trek: Tactical Assault
Star Trek: Conquest
Ducati Moto
AMF Bowling Pinbusters
(...)
Brink
RAGE
Dishonored

Success much? It's a track record of crappy titles broken by a few AAA productions at the end, But only one that didn't create unneccesary drama

But one will probably end up with Skyrim Warhammer/Saints Row Edition, now with extra bland dialouge
Hopefully both and more, imaging teaming up with the brotherhood of steel to fight the space marines in order to save Johnny Gat! It's absolutely Lobotomytastic!

Edit: Damn forgot
"Warhammer dragracing"
Battle it out with orks on the strip!

I heard that argument before but IMO its no excuse neither orgin or Uplay should have been made public until they where able to match the industry standard that is steam. If company X launched a operating system and that OS was buggy unpleasant to use ect. Then saying it is no more buggy or hard to use then windows 98 is not making it any more attractive. Current products/services should only be compared to there current competition not what that competition was like a decade earlier.

As for opening different applications for different games. Sure I agree its not something I want to do either. However Steam is very unintrusive in this regard. Steam launches and logs me in automatically, updates my games ect. If I don't want to I don't ever need to lay eyes on the steam GUI aside from installing games. If/when Uplay and Orgin can operate in the same manner I will be much more inclined to use them.
