It doesn't really matter though. The fact is that there is an issue and that AMD is aware of it. I have faith that smoothness will take a higher priority over at AMD and that we'll see that priority show in later driver and/or hardware releases. I'm not in the market for a new card, so I'm not a missed sales opportunity. And I have so many other things to ponder over, like Nvidia's voltage lock down... this just makes my decision making harder.

And he's right about the placebo effect thing, although it;s closer to Hypochondria then it is Placebo.
Er, no. There are legitimate, perceptible differences between the two cards. There are charts and videos to back up my side of the argument.

Extremely few people, if anyone, complained about this at all until TR's review, then low and behold, all the nVidia guys jumped on with "THIS IS WHY I BUY NVIDIA", and a large number of people all the sudden can see it. Your comic link was incredibly accurate.
I'd argue that it does take a trained eye to see this stuff. Normally I would be so absorbed in my game that I wouldn't notice.

That is, of course, with the exception of extreme hitching. I'd argue that most people will notice, but apathy will power them through.

For most people, I'd say that yes — the fact (I think that's established right now. Can I say that yet?) that AMD cards (or at least the 7950) are currently more prone to stutter than their Nvidia counterparts is not going to matter to most people. But for those of us who are sensitive to it, like myself, it does matter.

And for those who have now had their eyes opened by Scott Wasson's glorious troll: welcome aboard.

I guess, but it's fair enough to say that "It happened sometime recently".

And I guarantee there are now people who look at any game they are playing and swear there's microstutter, regardless of actual frame times or even driver version. Primarily those who can't see it and always take the word of benchmarks to be the one truth. Granted there will be people whose purchase will be ruined for them by it being pointed out and it now being painfully obvious, but that won't be all of them.

Ya, I'm thinking you can call it fact. The only debate is whether the fact matters or not, which as you pointed out is based on the person. I am, thankfully, neither among those who can see it or those who think they can. All bow down before my forgiving eyes! tongue.gif

dxtory vsync 59 for skyrim smooth as a pie XD..

Btw skyrim is the worst game to test this kind of things they dont mention that this engine is old as hell and its a fixed to u/d movement when vsync is on...

They try doing the tests with borderless window option?

If not get out seriously..

damn iq on nvidia seriously sucks lol..

This and I find it ridiculous that some people are saying NVidia have washed out colours LOL

I have noticed this personally also, in my friends PC with 7850 Assassins creed 3 has better IQ than my 560 has at the same res and same settings.
Is Nvidia really using these kind of approaches to stay on top.
Then its really a shame. mad.gif

I read some of your posts . My reason for considering contrast as a part of IQ was If you are not an expert guy like we are , and you blew up $1000 on GTX 690 only to get washed out images whats the point in spending $1000 , a similarly priced Radeon(neglecting stuttering) setup will give you similar performance and more vibrant images.

I also felt that washed out images are a part of heavy optimizations by Nvidia .MY mistake . tongue.gif

I used to wonder why the images look so washed out and I only managed to get an answer yesterday.
Now my images are as crisp as my friends after making contrast adjustments.

I'd enjoy the game a little first smile.gif Don't try too hard to watch for stuttering. Trust me, it sucks that you can't go back to not seeing it after you do notice it.

It is possible to notice the effects of normal gameplay, but probably there are many who would not see any problems if they are not singled out.

It's very individual how much notice of and affected by uneven render times. For the undersigned's part, it is not something that felt like an urgent problem and when I, for example, played up our blind test a few days after the videos only ring I was first unsure which card was which.

Some users will probably notice the problems with micro stuttering and uneven render times considerably clearer and then there is a high risk of prejudice to the gaming experience negatively.

Considering its a thing where a large chunk of people won't even see it if its right in front of their eyes, I'd say this is one of the smaller issues out there right now. I'd even go so far to say that its similar to synthetic benchmarks between components like CPU's where real world difference is next to identical but the benchmark numbers tip in one sides favor.

It's an issue, yes, but not nearly as big as some people want it to be seen as.

But fans on both sides of the fence on this issue as of late has gotten really out of hand. Seriously people, calm down. I'ts not that big of a deal regardless of what brand is doing what. And unless they are literally stealing from your wallet/bank account or insulting your mother, you need to flippin calm down.

Sadly I feel the need to explain to mods that "flippin" is flippin, no other "F" word and not all of us are trying to swear every posts so please stop being so over sensitive and calling everything a swear, when its obviously not. Most of you are great, this is aimed at a select few. I feel I need to explain this just to avoid a warning/infraction because some people have active imaginations and see cuss words everywhere. redface.gif
