Nothing to do with bandwidth, its because you can only have 2^32 memory addresses.

Op is there a setting in the bios named mapping or overlapping or something like that?

even if you have 32bit windows, the 8gb ram should still show up, it will just indicate that only 4gb is usable.

I think the OS issue should be ruled out. This could be a matter of hardware issues now.
Physically inspect the ram slots, particularly the pins. At least it boots up, my ram slots are also faulty but it doesn't boot when a ram module is installed in the faulty slots. Since it boots up, it's probably bad contact points.

Thanks for all the help guys, I just tried re-seating my RAM and changing some stuff up in the BIOS and it worked! biggrin.gif
