max ivy bridge volts WITHOUT noticable degradation?

Thread Starter
i currently have my i5-3570k running at 4,4ghz but am able to run 4.8Ghz stable at 1.45v
What kind of damage/degradation can I expect if I were to run this 24/7?
Anyone with experience at those volts over time here?

Cheers,

Kinda wish I kept my trusty 2500k at 5Ghz wink.gif

I've personally ran mine w/ 1.56v (max load) for just over 3 months now (daily use rig) and it's solid as a rock. I did have a small issue with stability where prime would fail on core #2, but it turned out to be a driver issue, and not a degradation issue.

As long as your board can handle the voltage and you can keep temps as low as possible, your good to go.

3570K:

- Delidded w/ Coollaboratory Liquid ultra between Die and IHS / IHS and H60.
- H60 water block w/ Black Ice GT240 Stealth Rad
- x4 120mm fans on the GT240.
- IBT temps are in the low 90's, average temps gaming are in the low 60's.

I don't know about 1.56v that is extreme voltages man i had a 2600k that died on me after 9 months at 1.512v 24/7 use. Now i wont touch anything over 1.45v volts. I am also sad to say the 3570k at 4.8ghz is like having a 2500k at 5ghz so that's kinda of a waste unless you are making use of the old chip some how.

im running 4.8ghz with 1.410V vcore for longer time now ..no problems yet,
to be honest, i dont think i will notice any (noticable) degradation within 3 years.. smile.gif
stick to the 1.3-1.45V vcore range, and youll be fine ..

@OP, I would NOT recommended you this - 4.8ghz @ 1.56v
safe is 1.35 or under and 85c or under and you wont have to worry
post #7 of 10
Voltage induced degradation at 22nm is quite different than 32nm. Von Dutch gives good advice, stay below 1.45v continous if you're concerned about degradation. But each chip is different...

Buy intel's performance tuner plan, will replace a cooked chip no questions asked.

yup also running 4.8 @ 1.39v solid for 4 months now. These chips are built well even hitting high celcius numbers daily for work/game related is no problem the tjmax is 105 for a reason not 85c lol thumb.gif

I didn't say max was 85c he asked safe. if he is folding and has temps at 100c while stress testing he is likely to be close to load temps while doing so. So absolute safe temps and voltage are 1.35v or under and 85c

Thanks everyone for the replies, didn't realize I would get any 4 months after I posted this but thanks nonetheless tongue.gif
I'm making sure my temperatures never exceed 90c and I am not folding on this machine so most of the time temps are quite low with the water 2.0 cooler i've got.
