There will be just a few games that will be power hungry, usually FPS or 3D action/adventure or open world games, but those will look inherently better on PC anyway as it happens today, with tweaks and mods.

Consoles arent to blame for that really. what is more important now is to focus on AI and more engaging interactivity within the game.

Lets go back to your original statement "better PC graphics will lead to better console graphics"

What the HECK are you talking about? Your statement that better PC graphics will lead to better console graphics is laughable, this is blatantly obvious to anyone who has followed gaming for the past 5 years. NEARLY ALL GAMES ARE PORTS FROM CONSOLES.

The reason for this are obvious to anyone who searched for developer interviews on the matter. Development costs have skyrocketed and because of this, they have to create games for their most profitable platforms first (console) and then create trickle down versions for other platforms (PC) when appropriate.

Your statement is just unbelievable because its so blatantly obvious to anyone who games on the PC. Of all the AAA titles around, 99% of them are ports from the console. Better console capabilities WILL lead to better PC graphics, end of story - consoles are more profitable and are thus the target platform for developers. This isn't like the old days where PC development was feasible - developing games costs much, much more than it did 10-15 years ago. Because of the costs, multi platform games are usually required for most devs.

it has to do with the fact that hardware reached already its limit. Now most computers and consoles use inferior recycled parts, are more complex and break more easily. not the best time to strive for superior hardware really. We'll see more RROD Xboxes this time for sure....

Perhaps this is the best time for developers to focus on other things (AI, interactivity, online etc). Something like Facade.

it also depends on the type of game you are referring to. On FPS or 3D games that make extensive use of the GPU, the PC has already the advantage and games there look better.

AAA games and good graphics (meaning they use the GPU 100 %) are not always together

Civilization V, a very popular AAA title or Starcraft 2, do not need the latest technology. Even other AAA games like the disappointing Metal Gear 4 are filled with HD FMV rather than gameplay and good graphics. yet at that time one falsely assumed, also thanks to the pseudo graphics of Uncharted, that PS3 graphics were gorgeous. We'll see more tricks of that kind, to fool the audiences that those games use the latest technology to the fullest.

Whenever a console tried to make a true 3D game, it always lacked behind the PC. but just like the Amiga demo scene in the late 80s-early 90s,computers are leading the way again to unique 3D graphics. It just hasnt occured in AAA titles yet.

PCs have the edge nowadays as opposed to 2005 regarding technology.

I remember back in late 2006 when the ps3 was just released I truely felt that consoles were much better then pc's based on graphics and gameplay, There are some console games that do look as good as some pc games today however thats a debate for another day.

What I was trying to say is that it doesn't matter what type of graphics the pc's have for its time because it will eventually pass up the consoles computing power and offer smoother playing games, but at first consoles always seem to have more power, but that just means better pc games eventually.

1. I will buy the next Xbox, as I am a fan of their service and have been since day 1.
2. Thank god for The Witcher 2, Crysis, and Metro 2033. The studios that wanted great graphics, I salute you. Crytek is still trying to push the envelope, and I respect that.
