Xonar STX sound keeps changing

Thread Starter
hey guys, I have the Xonar STX and when i am gaming sometimes the sound just gets quite. If i check the box to mute sounds then uncheck the sounds work just fine. This happens in netflix, teamspeak, and most of the games I have played. I do have the extra power cable plugged into my card and I am running the windows 8 drivers. It seems to happen the most when i minimize. any help would be greatly appreciated

Perhaps there is some other device or service taking priority of the sound card, like a messenger program etc.

You're not running steam are you? Ive noticed this when playing audio from foobar and steam makes a sound deciding it take control. Valve are about to get a heavy handed letter from my castle thats for sure.

Well i have figured out my issue. Something was taking control and turning down the volume of some programs and not others. Not sure if it was steam but I will keep playing with settings until i get it figured out.
