Hello, for those of you who achieved a successful overclock, please post your results, as well as the settings you used to achieve this.

I personally have a 970 extreme 4 board, and i am having trouble with a stable OC.

Thanks guys!

FX6300 4530 Mhz@ 1.425V 221 X 20.5 NB X10 @1.1875 V NB doesnt do much on these so it doesnt seem to be worth pushing it to hard, Makes little difference to any performance tests not like the phenemons.Keep Ht at 2000

I've moved up one to 23x203. Things like WinRAR Beta 2
got a bump.

I can bench and game @ 4.84GHz 1.48v however that's not
my 24/7 air OC so I don't report numbers for it unless asked.

For those interested, many settings for the Crosshair V Formula
are explained below.

Impressive OC guys. I will definitely give my chip another shot. I am hoping my extreme 4 will not limit the ability to achieve similar numbers.

hello I am new here and im just looking for some information. I went to OC my new PC and it seems to freeze after iteration 600000/30938107 about 1.93% (it took about 10 hours to get to 1.93%) in Prime95.
I have a Crosshair V formula-z, 8gigs of ram, an AMD FX-6300 CPU and a H80i cooler.
here is what I have in BIOS:

4600MHz

Ai Overclock Tuner Manual
CPU Ratio 23
AMD Turbo Core Disabled
CPU Bus Fequency 200
PCI-e Frequency 100
Memory Frequency 1866
CPU/NB Frequency 2600
HT Link Speed 2600
CPU Spread Spectrum Disabled
PCI-e Spread Spectrum Disabled

DRAM Timing Control-
CAS Latency 10
RAS to CAS Delay 10
RAS PRE Time 10
RAS ACT Time 27
WRITE Recovery Time 14 (auto)
Row Cycle Time 46 (auto)
Command Rate 1T

CPU Voltage 1.41v
CPU/NB Voltage 1.36v
CPU VDDA Voltage set to 2.61v but running at 2.63v
DRAM Voltage 1.65v
DRAM Over-Current Protection Disabled
NB Voltage 1.20v
SB Voltage 1.20v
NB Voltage Switching Frequency 1.4x
NB 1.8v Switching Frequency 1.4x
Cool n Quiet Disabled
C1E Disabled
Core C6 State Disabled
HPC Mode Enabled
APM Master Mode Disabled
ECC Mode Disabled

So what am I doing wrong or missing? Im new to this so Im trying to learn as I go.
Forgot to mention. Heat isnt an issue. When I stress test it, the CPU gets up to about 50-55C.
thanks.

I have had the same problem pushing it past 4.6. You can do two things; change the command rate to 2T on the memory or bump up the volts bumped it up a little volts +.05 to +.1 it stopped freezing, it is most likely an IMC problem, at least that is what I have been told. There is also no reason for you to bump up the NB voltage unless you are OCing the PCI-E or RAM frequencies, the SB does not need a voltage bump either. The fact about the current chipsets and CPU's AMD has on the market; there is a lot of backscaling if the voltages are to high. Also you should really set the CPU/NB to 2200, anything over just causes instability.
RAM=CPU/NB
1600=2000
1866=2200
2133=2400
2400=2600
This is the RAM frequency and corresponding CPU/NB frequencies that I have been able to get stable.(2200 CPU/NB I have at 1.25v)

I am currently running this as my current setup

CPU= 4725mhz 1.4500v | LLC Extreme 1.48v underload|
CPU Multi= 22.5
CPU FSB=210
CPU/NB=2310 | 1.25v | LLC Extreme 1.28 underload|
HT Link=2730
CPUspectrum=off
PCI-E spectrum=off
RAM=1959mhz | 1.66250v | CL6-7-8-12-1T
NB voltage= 1.1125

All energy saving tech has been disabled and the rest of the values have been manually set to their defaults.
Just keep trying these chips even at slower clock speeds then the last generation are truly an improvement.

thank you for your reply.. I will take your suggestions into consideration..
though I seem to have another problem..

While stress testing the CPU does not go up to 4600 MHz any more.. it stays arounf 1405 Mhz... did I fry my CPU?
It use to go up to 4600 but not anymore...

edit: seems to have been software based that was not letting it stress test properly.
still have freeing issues even with your settings.. i dont know what to do. im still very new at this.

thanks to all who replied. I am trying here..

ok new development. I was able to pass IntelBurn test (after putting both LLC's to Extreme) but it still freezes on Prime95.
Ive uploaded a few images to show exactly what I have. What do you see that is wrong in the images?
If you can, please spell things out for me. Its how I learn...Like what is an IMC problem?

thanks again!
