Very slow Samsung 840 PRO 512gb

Thread Starter
Hello. I just made my account on this forum, because it looked like one of the better!
And excuse my english, I'm from Norway.

I just bought a Samsung 840 PRO with 512gb storage. It cost me alot and I am dissapointed now that I know I still have very slow results.

I've had some problems getting windows over on this disc, but managed it in the end.
I've ran Performance optimization and OS Optimization from Samsung SSD Magician, but no difference to be seen.

It's plugged into a SATA 6G on my Asus p8z77-v pro.

I am not very good with computer parts, so please, please help me out.

not sure if this speeds slow or fast, need to compare it with others. i can also check in bios if your sata mode is ACHI, not IDE.

I would try another SATA cable.

Asus provided two different SATA cables. One completely black and another with gray and white colors (The one Im using now).
What cable should I use?

I connected to the SATA wich is called SATA 6G it's the gray SATA's on the motherboard.

Have I plugged anything wrong?

It doesn't matter which cable you use, just ruling out the possibility of a bad cable. Try other SATA III ports as well of you have some spare, see if the dark blue ASmedia ports give you the same result.

disable intel speed step, C1E, Cstates, etc. All power savings. then run the bench with prime 95 running on 1 thread.

Do you think that would cause the huge latency time only on writes? I've never personally seen idling effect the SSD but I always have most power savings besides C1E off.

Also, they may have some sort of file encryption or file compression enabled too.

And the power settings can affect latency, just not that much.
