Thanks, I'm guessing that it works for 64bit Win 8 as well?

Writing love letters to all of you right now. Thank you very much!

Btw. Is there any way to get even faster rates?

What drivers did you update? and did you uninstall and then re-install certain ones? I too am having some huge performance hits on my older 830 series

This driver (date:12/3/12) posted by Sean has been removed from the intel website - may they found a bug.

Here is the main Intel SATA driver download page:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Software+Products&ProductLine=Chipset+Software&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Rapid+Storage+Technology+%28Intel%C2%AE+RST%29

I downloaded the previous version (9/13/12) and it solved my slow write problem exactly as OP had (file "iata_enu.exe"). It also allowed me to upgrade to the latest 4B0Q drive firmware, which would crash before installing the updated intel driver.

VERY HAPPY with my 840 pro now!

I did not uninstall anything. I just installed the intel driver (see my post above).

The driver shows up as "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" in Control Panel/Programs. I did not have this driver before I installed it (meaning an older version of the driver).
