Are these two kits compatible?

Thread Starter
I just built a new system. All the components came in from Newegg by Christmas eve except the memory, and being the impatient jerk that I am, I opted to go out to a store and buy a different memory kit rather than wait the two days it would take for the one I ordered to arrive post-Christmas.

I didn't bother getting an identical kit because I figured I would just RMA the one from newegg after it arrived. However, I've found it will somehow cost over $10 in shipping to send back the tiny package, so I'm now trying to figure out if it's not worth keeping instead.

I'm guessing they're not compatible, but I figured I'd ask since I don't really know much about ram.

What I have installed: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A2133C11R

What I have packaged: G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-14900CL9D-8GBSR

Thanks.

They will probably work together but run at cas 11 1866mhz. Unless you plan on overclocking them... If i were you i would keep the corsair ram and return the gskill's. For a gaming computer 16gb is not gonna get used. And it could be difficult to match the timings and get the speed you want. Up to you though rolleyes.gif
