Prescott Chip overclockers what is your best Air cooling temp? - Page 3

50 - 55C load temps on an overclocked Prescott is not a bad thermal. The Prescotts ran hot indeed, about 10C or more hotter than their Northwood brothers.

I would not worry. If your temperature drop delta (the time it takes to drop 10C when the load is stopped) is quick then should be just fine.

This thread is all obout AIR COOLING

First I use pccooler hsf temp 50-55, than I changed to CM Vortex TX temp still the same at 100% load... waste of money..

Right now I'm still think whether should I buy another cooler..

Guys what is your BEST air cooling temp at 100% load for overclocked prescott chip?? What cooler you use? Please share thanks.

My full load right now peaks at 56C, but only with Dual-Prime running 100% load and I'm heavily OC'd on stock cooling.

A new HSF will help me out there

ditto with what Ropey said. i tried both the northwood and the prescott with air cooling. and i have to tell you with about 600 MHz oc, i think you are doing quite well with the temp you have. try to remove the clutter inside your casing and that might help a bit. just try to remember that once you reach the physical threshold of the cpu temp there is no way you can lower it any further. what you can do is make sure it stays at that temps longer instead of shooting higher with use.

I use back pccooler hsf and added a 90mm ThermalTake fan on top of it, now my temp drop 5c when full load!!! Happy! around 44-46c full load.

For your info the pccooler hsf is like a flower (looks abit like zalmon but not as big and not pure copper I guess) with a fan inside. So now this cooler has 2 fans blowing.

Try the ZALMAN brand - CNPS7700 - Cu LED. Thats about as good as it gets with air cooling in my opinion. My Zalman keeps me @ 30 degrees C for the CPU & 32 degrees C for the mobo - @ idle on my P4.
This model has a 120mm fan & is 100% copper. ...... lap it in & mount it up with some Artic Silver 5 thermal paste. Be careful if you have to move your computer case as this cooler is really heavy. It should kick some azz with the temps.
