The Pentium D 805
The Pentium D 820

thanks for answering!

the 805 is known for its OC, and would work alot better on non PCI lock boards for the simple fact 200x20 is 4ghz

The 805 might overclock farther via MHZ do to its 133 stock fsb and high multi, but the 820 is a faster chip and will outperform the 805 because it has a higher bus speed, so if you were able to get the 805 to say 3.5ghz yould only have a FSB of 175 and a bus speed of 700, which is still under the 820's stock fsb and bus speeds, now if you had the 820 at 3.5 yould have a FSB of 250 and a bus speed of 1000, so naturaly the 820 would give the 805 a spankin even if the 805 was 100mhz faster @ 3.6 vs 3.5. If you can afford the 820 go with the 800mhz bus speed instead of the 533.

I'm with Adeoliver, listen to him, he's got crap load of experience with Smithfields.

I avoided Smithfields like the plague.

wait these few days and get the Core 2 Duo E4300! Its out 4th Dec. or get an E6300! I would not go with the DS3! Get the Biostar TForce P965 Deluxe it OC same or better and there is ICH8R on it!

At 325 MHz the Biostar TForce P965 motherboard started to give us a bit of trouble and needed its NB/SB voltage increased to 1.7V to keep things stable. That allowed the motherboard to reach just a bit higher and it maxed out at a top speed of 341 MHz. Anything higher and the motherboard would not boot into Windows. 341 MHz is definitely a decent speed and it's nice to see the new Intel P965 Express chipset overclock well.

341 Max FSB? That means with an E6300 you will get at most a 341 X 7 = ~2.3GHz. With an E4300 it would be 341 X 9 = ~3.0Ghz but that is if it can take such a high FSB. The E4300 has a native 800MHz fsb and moving to 1364 might be an issue.

Yes the Biostar board allowed us to overclock a sub-$200 processor by almost 100%. This is a testament to both the board and the CPU.

At this time there are some reviews that say it makes the grade with top of the line DRAM and others that say it doesn't so it is not yet ready for me to advise it.
