I think we should wait for proper reviews to come out next week. Until then one can hope that these CPU's have a good enough yield that they can be undervolted like Trinity and perform well.

What are basing $20 off of?

30% of $190 is $57 (the article claimed $190 price for the new AMD CPUs) and he was claiming the Intel parts cost 30% more than AMD parts so if the AMD CPU is $190 then the Intel CPU is $247... $57 more for a CPU is nothing to trivialize for the vast majority of the world. Even if the AMD CPU cost just $150 the difference is still $45... far more than your $20 you pulled out of your butt. Or can you buy an FX 8350 cpu for $67?

The 30% performance improvement is most likely maximum, with (IMO) 15%-20% average being more likely IMO, but that should leave AMD in a similar position against Haswell, as long as they get product out before Broadwell I can see PD systems being great budget ones/systems that run great for people who do stuff other than gaming much like PD is vs IVB.

So, assuming they'll fix that, they should technically be more competitive with intel ?

Would it be an easy fix ?

I'd wager that they'll merely keep up overall with Intel for Haswell, because Haswell looks like a pretty serious upgrade. (ie. They'll gain a bit in single-threaded stuff but Intel will gain a bit in multi-threaded stuff)

Here in Spain you cannot find a 3770K for less than €280, or about 370$ in today's exchange. The 3570K that you can get for next to nothing, costs €220.
Meanwhile, AMD's flagship costs 184€, and the 8320 164€.

And we're amongst the cheapest european countries in terms of computer hardware, together with Germany.

Where I am a 3570 and 8350 are equal in cost. I will still get an 8350 because the 8350 is far more suitable for my workload and I don't want to get Intel anyway. But as the latter is a personal preference I don't feel the need to discuss it with anyone.

Ah, dang, I was hoping for a big redo of bulldozer tongue.gif I'd love another AMD system but my budget doesn't allow me to have an Intel and an AMD system. Before you ask, yeah I already had the Z77 board :-)

To be fair, I'm being quite conservative with AMD and probably a bit over the top with Intel as I'm extremely interested in getting a Haswell-E system when they come out.

It s similar here ,in Romania.Even the 2500K is at the same price with the 3570 ,while the 3770 has the price almost double to what a FX 8350.has this days.
Practically if i were to make a new rig no matter what i do i return to AMD because it will give me the same for less money.
With the money saved for the CPU i can get a better video card or a SSD or a more efficient power supply.
The power bill is ok as long as the PC is on while i use it. ,this meaning few hours a day.
