I need Reassurance

Thread Starter
I have to admit that this is my first oveclocking experience. So I need to know if I'm beating up my RAM..... I currentlyhave an Asus A8N32 SLi Deluxe bios 1303 and also have an AMD X2 4400+ 2.2.GHz oc'd to 2.53 GHz by raising the FSB to 230 MHz. I currently have 2 GB(4x512) Samsung M368L6523CUS-CCC rated at 200 Mhz so effectively i"m pushing that to 230 MHz.

My System seems stable running only 46-47C under full and 35C when idle SppedFan and Sandra XI both gave me those #'s...Those numbers seem pretty good NO?...NFS MW blazes with no hiccups.

Should I get greedy and try to tweak the FSB or just thank my luck stars that this memory is holding up. My stacker 830 is loaded with fans(7/120mm fans). One is a 120mm fan 4 inces above the ram air flow is outstanding...

Also Asus adds this fan that connects to the N/Sbridge heat pipe fins. Will this help with cooling the heat pipe or possibly hurt by disrupting the air flow around the CPU?

Again I need to state that I am totally new to Overclocking. Any hints tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated. Some of the statements above could be terribly wrong..Be Easy on me

Just keep pushing it.

Dont forget to test the overall stability of your overclock with Prime95

If you want to find your memorys max speed put the htt to x3. Cpu multi x7 or x8 and push up the FSB and run memtest overnight. If any errors appear you have gone to far. You then have two options. Loosen the ram timings or up the ram volts. I personally wont go over 2.9v Make sure you are running 2T timmings because thats the only way that AMD will like those 4 sticks.

Fury

EDIT: DONT forget to not exceed a max temp of 50.
If you do you will need to look into 3rd party cooling.

I found this samsung memory to be pretty decent most people able to run 240MHz no problem..while others were saying 250 and 270mHz. I just took mine to 231Mhz FSB and got a cool 2.61 Ghz reward.....CPU Vcore 1.46 Gonna run some ames and look for "stuff". I'm gonna run 3DMark06 too.I got a 8803 last time..... will report back thumb:

HI!! I've been working on this overclock thing for over a week....i'm showing my numbers and specs in an effort to see if I "hit the wall". I learned alot from all you posting and responding....so here goes! I hope someone can point out something obvious..so please feel free to criticize.

AMD 4400+ 2.2 stock overclocked to 2.629 MHz

239 FSB x 11multi +2.629, memory 183 MHz to 202.2 Dram Freq. 2.5-3-3-7

2 GB (4x512)Samsung M368L6523CUS-CCC

Pulled down a 9229 PCMark06 with evga 8800 GTX 97.02 drivers (no OC)

you could run a devider on the ram. This means funning the fsb:ram ratio as 4:3 or something. It means you can push your FSB higher without having to overclock the ram. Only do that if you are unstable on the ram, and wish to give a higher core clock a shot

OK, so you have 240fsb, and 202 ram frequency? That means you are already running a devider. Have you been upping the Vcore at all? I'm guessing you probably have, but if not, the chip might need more power. Up the Vcore by 1 notch and keep going. Your ram is only overclocked by 4mhz lol....(200 in DDR [which is dual data rate] means 400mhz, thats where the ddr400 comes from)

You'll be able to tell if you hit the wall. If you start crashing randomly or arn't able to load windows, then you've gone too far. If you get too hot before then, you'll need to look into better cooling. If you havn't gotten too hot and you can still run well, keep going until you do get too hot or stop being able to run with stability.

You're gonna hit the wall *really* early with 4 sticks of RAM.
