Problems w/ Pentium III

im having problems with the board getting my cpu at the right speed, i got a pentium 3 1ghz on ebay for 10$ and on my pentium 3 mobo it says it 500mhz. theres a little black label on the cpu thats says 1000/blah/blah it swasnt added on it was a pritented lable that comes on out of the factory, any help getting this cpu to normal speeds

get the right memory maybe? Make sure your bios settings are on auto.

yeah i have the right memory, on my old pentium 3 mobo that somehow some resistors fell off so i had to replace it it should 960mhz, with 384 mb of memory

everything is on auto, i can manuel increase the speed up to 624mhz but i know this cpu can reach 1ghz

ok change it from FSB 66 to FSB 133

thanks for the help, turns out the pins near the cpu were place incorrectly, i am now at fsb 100 and my processor is running at 997 mhz, i can go beyond that but the bois does not display the whole operating frequencie. once i get this thing in a tower and running with windows ill check there

so far my temps are 17 running on air

yeah thank god i did, or else ill be trying to learn c++ on some slow machine, with the new tower i got w/ a 500w power supply i think i should be good to overclock to its max which is 1.6ghz anyone know a safe temp for that peice of poo
