Need A Recommendation

Thread Starter
I'm a NOOB.

I've got an old M2N32-SLI Deluxe Wifi board and I'm looking into upgrade my CPU to a Phenom II X4 965. With this I'm also looking for new RAM, I'm thinking I could go with 8GB if it's not crazy expensive.

Can anyone recommend anything decent but cost effective? The board supports DDR2 800/667/533

Also if it matters, I'm hoping to upgrade my GPU, POSSIBLY SLI in the near future.

EDIT
I should add, that I'm currently running 4GB of OCZ2N800SR4GK. I don't know smack about RAM...is it an issue to just add another 4GB mixed with this current stuff? If I could that would be awesome. If so, what can be mixed?

I just looked it up and it looks like this current stuff is fairly expensive, so mixing with something cheaper would be awesome if possible. Funny because a friend gave me this for free years ago and I don't think he knew how much it cost!

i would just get a new board and new ram. you dont need anything too great if you arent overclocking, and the benefits of DDR3 are pretty good.

Corsair XMS3 8GB

Although C3-stepping chips are in your board's CPU support list, there is no guarantee that it will work with an X4 965, so it might be indeed better to switch the whole platform altogether.

If you want to add RAM, I'd recomment looking at the second hand market. You never know for sure until you try, but normally you shouldn't have problems with mixing two 2x2Gb kits provided you run them at specs of the worst kit.

I've read that a ton of people have already tried this combo and it works. I have been thinking about going the distance though, but I just CAN'T justify the spending to myself haha.
