I am thinking of building a new rig but wandered if the P4 D 3.4ghz would be a better option than the Conroe E6300 1.86GHZ

Is the new Conroe quicker than the P4 D?

conroe is much better than any other cpu period.

Yes i agree with jazino, i was thinking the same thing as you griff because both of them are roughly the same price,but after looking at some benchmarks etc, the core 2 duo is much faster.
