Notebook Options around $2000 CDN ($1750-$1800US)

Thread Starter
So for the last while i've wanted a notebook (since moving into my new house). Mainly due to my desktop sorta being tucked away from the basement, sorta away from civilization it feels. I want some portability. I don't necessarily need a hardcore gaming machine, or i'd buy another desktop, but I do want a solid machine.

I'd like to go core 2 duo, about an 80gb drive (7200rpm), either a decent video card, or the option of putting on in, solid screen, wireless, bluetooth is debatable. At least 1gb ram, if not 2. DVDRW. Battery size is deabable - doesn't need to lsast any specific length at the moment. If i go with a smaller notebook, I don't want a huge battery sticking out or something (just an example. Sizing is debatable, I don't need this as a desktop replacement, nor do i need to go on flights n stuff with it. One thing I wouldn't mind though is a full sized keyboard. Software isn't overly important as I already have most plus an MSDN subscription. I'd also like something equivalent to dell's complete care warranty (accidental damage warranty).

As mentioned above, budget, or what i'd be hoping to spend, granted cheaper is better is around $2k cdn.

What i was originally looking at was a dell xps 1210. Partially because i've worked for them and if i ever need anything I have some in's as well as know how to manipulate their system if need be. Likewise, I can usually get an employee 15% discount plus whatever I can find online for CDN coupons.

What other options do I have for notebooks, i've never looked into most.

The Asus A8J series look nice... but I've heard from some other forum that they're quite faulty, and that the customer service is awful... Although some here think that they are very good !
