My vote for a Macbook too, I'm very happy with mine. I get almost 5 hours of battery life (with the brightness down and things like bluetooth off), it runs quite cool and it's very quiet. Parallels is a hell of a lot of fun too, especially if you use nLite to make an operating system that uses almost no RAM.

what's a parallel? nLite is something that makes an OS run in a window? Like a desktop emulator?

Really? I would've thought gentoo would beat them...gentoo does everything first...xgl, macintel, the list goes on...

If you can find one used near you (craigslist), go for it. Don't skimp on the battery; most used laptops have crapped out batteries. Other than that...a new macbook will give you about 600% the laptop you're looking for...lol

EDIT: Parallels is an OS X program that lets you run a virtual XP desktop inside OS X. nLite is a tool used to streamline Windows installs, minimizing what's installed (and therefore what runs once it is installed...allows you to TRIM the FAT).
