Samsung LED LCD's lead the industry in terms of image quality and motion performance. The new ES8000 and ES9000 are the best, however since your budget is only about £1,300 I recommend this:

Samsung UE55ES6800

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-UE55ES6800-55-inch-Widescreen-Processor/dp/B007JURJDK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1356837747&sr=8-2

It's got PC like functionality with the dual core processor and it's excellent in terms of image quality, motion performance and reliability.

If you have some extra cash, this is also a great choice:

Samsung Series 8 ES8000

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Series-ES8000-SMART-Television/dp/B007JURJMG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1356837747&sr=8-3

The ES8000 series are the best in terms of image quality and motion performance except for the 75" Samsung ES9000 but that costs $7000+.

I'd avoid the S6800, I've had terrible experiences with this TV. My friend owns one and the sound cuts out due to some fault Samsung hasn't fixed yet. I'd explain further but just google it.

As for the ES8000 and 9000, not worth the price tag at all, still the best in the business though. No TV is worth that much. If you're insisting on spending £1300... And that only, your options are thin. It's not a good bang for buck margin.

If it were me, I'd get a wheel & pedals, 27" + monitor, whack rFactor on with a tonne of mods and have a whale of a time. You sure you'd actually drop £1300 on a TV? I sort of get why... But... Wouldn't you rather have £1300? Or a whole new experience entirely? Or spend a little less and get some other goodies?

If its for family or yourself and you're truly set on getting one, don't let me deter you, I was just being honest. If money is no issue, go with the es8000/9000. If going over is too much, I'd maybe consider waiting until something worthy of that price tag comes along!

Edit: stupid mobile site doesn't show signatures, didn't see your rig! I must sound like a plonker now hahahaha!

If you want the best experience for everything you do on a TV get a plasma. I have a 55" Samsung and it blows away my 70" Vizio in terms of blacks and well... overall color. Could be I have my Vizio set up wrong as I don't use it very often but I still much prefer plasma to LCD and LED. You also save money going plasma as you can get a 55" for around $800-900.

If you are worried about burn in don't be. That is all but gone with today's plasma's and all that's left is sticking pictures which are easily removed by the removal tool every plasma should come with. I've had mine for over a year now and I can leave a picture on for 12+ hours with no burn in or sticking. Trust me I fell asleep with the news channel paused....tongue.gif

Anyway if you really want a LED Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Vizio, and Sceptre all make pretty good TV'S and I've owned or tested all of the brands at one time or another. I don't think you can get the last 2 brands I've mentioned in the UK though.

I'm definitely not getting a TV with active 3D. Not that I`m gonna be using it much, but still. Plasma is definitely not option, because they are not energy efficient. LED is the future in my opinion. What do you think about this one? Currently on sale for £1.2K http://www.lg.com/uk/tvs/lg-55LM670T-3d-tv/reviews

That's got similar image quality and motion performance as the Samsung LEC LCD's I mentioned, however not really sure on LG's reliability and warranty.

However if the 55" new LG series is something to go by, yes LG LED LCD HDTV's are excellent.
