SLi or New Card? - Page 6

3dmark does do a decent job with compairing single cards against each other. SLI messes up 3dmark for some reason.

i see it this way... he can get a new motherboard that he can OC this stuff with... have an extra amont to get some cooling and OC the **** out of them... XFX 7600GT's xXx are 590/1.6 and mine is running at 650/1.8 with a FS-V7...

Its a benchmark just increase the rates for a lower res...

Your plan would cost 225+ while my idea with selling his current parts (mainly his 7600gt) he could in fact get better performance for less. If he sold his 7600gt he could have equal if not better performance for less (by way of the 7900gs)... (and he also has the option to SLI later)

Both are good ideas though, all up to the man now..

Yes, it works very nicely as a capture card.

It is indeed.

I just want to say once more how helpful everyone here has been... I really appreciate it. The spammer doofus, however is not helpful...

Im looking at a 7900 GT and a new board. Not sure of specifics yet, and I still have lotsa time to tweak that.

I know that the x1950xt is a better card. I will never fight that, however, I cannot stand to use the ATi software.

Cooling question... aftermarket cooling for 7900 GT... would a Zalman vf700 be enough?

Once again, you guys are the best (minus the spammer).

Check out the 1280x1048 benchmark I posted. The single card (7900GT) did almost 30fps better than the sli'd 7600GT.

Yes. I believe sideburns has the highest overclock on a 7900GT on this forum, and he uses a vf700. A volt modded and highly overclocked 7900GT can match a X1900XT, so you won't be dissapointed there. With my 22", and X1900XT(stock) and all settings maxed, I never go under 60fps in any of my games. I don't have FEAR or Obilivion, but BF2 and HL2:EP1 look wonderful

EDIT: For about $35 more you can pick up the tidewater here. The tidewater is probably the best all-in-one vga water system out there... I stay under 60C with 1.575v running through my GPU.

If you want to spend more for 20fps more get the 7900GS and wait to get a new motherboard later on.

Just fyi if you are not super good at motherboards DFI may not be the best option

Yes, DFI is good stuff.

I just don't know what to do here... I start to lean one direction, then I am swayed another.

As I said earlier, I am usually more compulsive than this.

Everyone underestimates 7600GT SLi.

I went with 7600GT SLi + DFI and I'm not regretting it at all.

FEAR i get 90fps avg (188 tops) on the auto detect settings and 70 (130 top / 30low ) with maxed settings and that is with Software mode sli.
