SLi or New Card? - Page 9

Hi Steve!

And I don't think the 7800 would be that great. I have seen OC'd 7600's that can catch up to 7800's.

VIVO should be included on all X1900 series cards. Newegg probably made a mistake. Which card were you looking at?
I may not be looking at the ATi cards...

7900 or similar.

Give me nVidia or give me death!!!

That was drastic, but I just cannot stand ATi (at the moment).

I don't understand you reasons behind hating ATI. But, your best bet with that evil green corp is a 7900GTO if you can find one, or a 7900GTX, which a lot of members here are selling for at or less than $350.

I just don't like the ATi software setup.

I will check out the for sale page for the 7900GTO/GTX.

I also dont see your hate for ATi if you look at all those benchies look at where the x1950Pro sits, its much higher in all the benchies listed and the card goes for $200 most of the time but is quickly raising in price due to popularity. Also yes right now its not OC'ing very well but when its actually supported by ATi Tools I am sure we will be able to OC the hell out of it.

I am sure you are referring to the 9800Pro era which did produce crappy drivers and that left a scar on everyone. However the new Warcat drivers (modded ATi drivers) are just stunning and to be honest I have never seen such awesome PQ with this card. But to each his own.

Buy a 7900GS for $160, overclocked you can reach and pass 7900GT speeds with ease, a guy on here is running 700/1700 overclocked on a $160 7900GS...(this is much faster than a 7900GT) and then step up in a few months, save money now and spend it when you need DX10!

why does he need DX10?! there is no operating systems that even HAVE the API yet. (DirectX 10 Software)

I don't see the point in saving up for a DX10 card untill there is even a DX10 game released in the next 5 months.. or even just waiting for second generation cards that wont take up 130watts each along with there 13" coolers.

The R600 is the last of a decent line... after that they are going to use (lots) smaller cores to make up for the heat/wattage and if you stick with AMD they might end up even putting the HTX slot in someday.
