I don't use it but I'm guessing that's the equivalent to 'enhance pointer precision' in Windows mouse settings.

I am a bit confused with my new Naos 8200 purchase. The mouse, effectively has 4 spare buttons. The 2 DPI toggles, and the two thumb buttons.

As there is no DPI roll function, if you have an up you must have a down, leaving on 2 free buttons.

Am I stuck choosing between using those for in game functions or a profile roll and a single spare button? I haven't seen this issue brought up anywhere else, so I figure I must be missing something. The lack of a dedicated profile switch button presents itself a problem. I use the two thumb keys both for Forward/ Back and in game for various purposes.

Furthermore, the default set up doesn't have a profile switch button.

Am I to understand that the mouse ships with the capability of five on board profiles, but no way to change them without giving up DPI up/ DPI down or Forward/ Back?

Edit: Furthermore, the firmware updater states that I have an update. The mouse's DPI LED's rise as if it were completing, then turns off. then turns back on. The firmware updater still states ti has an update. Anyone else experience this?

Mionix support hasn't replied yet.

Unfortunately no way of switching between profiles without reassigning another button.

As for firmware issue. I'll tke a stab.....Turn off ALL antivirus Monitoring software. Retry installation and reboot. Sounds like something holding back the change to your system and reverting.

Nice review. I own a Naos 5000. I thought I gave up on laser mice, but I don't see anything happening lately on the optical scene, so this is high up on future purchases. I loved my 5000. It just feels fantastic to hold and manipulate. Unfortunately the 5000 tracks fairly (even by it's own software) on the dozen of pads I own, has noticeable accel issues, and I eventually gave it up. Best mouse grip ever though, and the texture of the shell is phenomenal. The switches are nice too, and pressure perfect. I could do without the LED's. This is essentially the exact same mouse as the Naos 5000 with an Avago 9800 inside, correct? Is there something special about it that would make it succeed where the 5000 with the 9500 fails?

I tried disabling Kaspersky, though now that I think about it, in WIN8 defender kicks on. Thank you for that!

that is a shame that profile switching takes up an extra key, leaving only one usable. I decided to forego DPI switching, as I don't really need the function and just use the DPI buttons for profiles

I am disappointed that they didn't add a dedicated profile button OR the option in the drivers for a dpi roll. Hopefully we will see one in the future! Still, an awesome laser and the most comfortable mouse I have ever used.

Edit: I submitted a ticket last week , as this presented a large dilemma for me. Received a response this morning.

Hi Joseph!

We are currently looking in to adding this feature [DPI Roll option], we will most likely be able to add it within a few updates depending on how much time it takes our programmers, but it will come.

Regards,
Anders

I noticed that the weight of this mouse is 99 grams wo/ the cable, but 151 w/. IMO, the cable is going to either lay down or get tethered and therefore doesn't necessary make the mouse more difficult to move.

Also, I'm coming from an Ikari Laser which weighs 98 grams, but doesn't say whether or not it includes the cable.

I've been using a G400 as I got it cheap, but I MISS the flatness of the Ikari.

Thank you.

Funny story about the weight regarding the NAOS 8200. The Mionix website has this listed with the weight INCLUDING the box and content. Which was kind of silly.

I took the mouse to a mailing store and the person behind the counter weighed both mouse and cord. When I asked if he could just weigh the mouse he thought I was kidding thinking this was a shipment and handed me back the mouse. So the weight listed is showing both.
