I just bought a kone xtd. I am having issues on installation. Whenever windows installs the drivers, it fails every time. Sometimes it is the usb controller, sometimes it is the usb input. The weird thing about it is the mouse works up until the usb input is installed. Then the lights stop blinking and the cursor cannot be moved. This is on a windows 7 64 bit machine.
Now, on the same machine, I switch to windows 7 32 bit and the mouse works just fine. Everything works flawlessly and the software can be used
My question to you: is this a sign that my cpu is going bad? Or is there some special driver I have to load for it somehow? I have tried nearly every combination of installing, installed previous versions of drivers, loaded generic drivers, system restored, etc.
Evga e760 mobo
Intel Core i7 920
windows 7 64/32 bit sp1
6gb corsair trip channel
600gb wd and a 128 samsung ssd
Steelseries shift keyboard
previous mouse was a logitech g5
ati 7970 3gb
corsair 750w power supply
Plenty of fans and cooling that does not exceed 60c full load.
**update 1** The mouse works just fine in safe mode..
thought it might be Windows 7 64 bits security, so i disabled UAC and wiped the drivers and put windows into test mode. Still doesn't work.
Ran CCleaner to repair the registry. Cleared all roccat related items from Registry. Installed during safe mode.
For anyone in my similar situation / specs, I have located the problem. The issue lies within a conflict between Roccat and Steelseries drivers. I was wanting to know why my mouse worked on safemode and windows 32 and not 64... well, both of those did not have steelseries drivers installed. I uninstalled, and restarted. Mouse is now working perfectly. Going to try to reinstall the steelseries drivers. Otherwise, looks like its time to get an Isku Edited by alucard971 - 11/3/13 at 7:59pm
