Because AMD cut prices...

those are actually pretty expensive, Newegg is selling the 165 for $155 vs $175 at TD.

Because, most unfortunately, they are NOWHERE near top-of-the-line anymore. That position now belongs to Intel, so AMD is trying to even the price/performance ratio between the two.

Yes, but Intel's Core 2 Duos are better.

Being cheap doesn't mean they're bad. It means we can get good performance for dirt cheap. You should be happy.
