Core 2 Duo & 2x 8800GTX's - Page 2

I think yall are missing something, especially when you look at 3DMARK. Yes, a X6800 will bottleneck dual 8800 GTX's in 3DMAKR06, however, consider the resolution it is running at. When you pair and X6800 dual 8800 GTX's, and a 30 inch monitor running 2560-1650 (or whatever that native resolution is) then that bottleneck will all but disappear! Start adding in 16q AA, 16 AF, etc, etc, and I think you will start to understand where 8800 GTX's will come in handy!

well not everyone can get a 30" monitor like you I just want something to run at 1680 x 1050 really well. And I think a single GTX will do that for me.

Any CPU on this planet will heavily Bottleneck a pair of 8800'S. There shear processing power is something the CPU simply cant keep up with..A pitty really. However with graphic powe like that a bottleneck wont be noticeable until benchmarks.

Well if you have read any of the things about DX10 you would see that DX10 puts a lot more of the gaming procession power onto the graphics card instead of on the CPU. So a pair of GTX's will perform really well for DX10 games. Yes a x6800 will bottleneck the system in benchmarking but in DX10 gaming. Its gonna be all video card.

TO avoid bottleneck the g80, it hin you would need 2xQX6700 cpu's.
But who cares about bottleneck's?
You just wanna be able to play Oblivion at ultra with more than 30 fps....

But on DX10 the cpu isn't gonna be the bottle neck.... DX10 places most of the load on the GPU's and only used the CPU for physics and AI

I think you misunderstood something about DX10. It will still be up to the developers to decide how much processing they'd like to use the GPU for and how much to offload onto the CPU or Physx processor. DX10 will streamline many operations such that more gaming power can be put onto the GPU, you don't *have* to.
