There really is not a lot of data on the Opteron 185, but typically people buy them or the FX series are dissappointed. Like I said in a previous thread you are more likely to overclock beyond 3.0GHz with an Opteron 165 with the appropriate stepping then you would with an Opteron 185. Check out THIS THREAD, it discusses Opterons and why Opteron 165's are the best for overclocking.

I know that it may be hard to believe that a cpu with 1.8GHz frequency can overclock higher then a cpu with a 2.6GHz frequency but that is the case. If you are still in doubt run a poll asking which processor to get if you want to get to 3.0GHz the Opteron 165 or 170, 175, 180, 185 and you will be a believer.

It's really all a matter of stepping. Most Dual core opterons have crumby steppings except the 165's I'm not sure why this is.... it just IS.

If you must hit 3GHZ Then go for the Opty 165. However not all Dual core Opties have rubbish steppings..My stepping apparently can hit 3GHZ.
