The Kraken X60 - Page 20

Pictures! I just got my xb case in today, getting everything put together. I only have the 2 stock fans at the moment but I'll have 2 more soon for push pull. Right now I've got the radiator up front with the fans in the mesh as intake fans. What would you recommend? I can also switch air flow direction, have the fans pulling air from in the case and pushing out the front of the xb.

I was having some software issues with my X60 (not detecting cpu temp or fan speed), so I thought I'd try to connect it direct to the motherboard and not use the USB header connection. Sure, that means I don't get the LED lighting, however I can probably live with that.
So now, the fan profile is controlled by the bios.
Surprisingly, the temps actually got even better when set up this way!
I suspect that this is because the pump is running full speed all the time now.
I noticed approx 3-4 degrees difference with my FX8350 @ 4.9GHz.

Also, this meant I got my 2 front USB ports back that I had lost to the cooler.

I was thinking of trying to rma this because of the issues I was having - don't think I'll bother now.thumb.gif

Pump speed should be constant, although I could be wrong. Didn't think it varied. The 3 pin connector only pulls the 7 V or whatever it is that it needs.

I can't see why it would vary either, however when I was using the original software, I did notice that it reported varying speeds and it only rarely went to max speed. Anyway - can't explain it - just know it seems to be working better now (even though it was no slouch to start with).

I have the same issue with the x60 control panel, disappearing CPU temps.... Just installed it after a weird pump issue with a swiftech h220. At first the temps of the cpu cores showed up in the panel now after a day they have diappeared. Fan speed and liquid temp both displayed ok. Seems none of these newer aio water coolers are 100% have to say I may go back to my good old thermalright air cooler, so dependable.....

Any NZXT input on this in here?

Thanx

So what's a good fan substitute for the default one, and what performance gain will be gained with it?

You need to have Open Hardware Monitor running in the background. Somehow its tied up with the Kraken control panel and will display all those readings when its running. (Open Hardware Monitor is included and installed when u install the Kraken software)
