what happened to sapphire x1950 pro - Page 2

well i would save about forty bucks with that one, and the Zalman ZV9 i was planning no getting is $45 so what i save would pretty much pay for that.

what worries me though is the 4 less pipelines, does it affect it that much. the core and memory clocks can be fixed with a little overclocking but you cant change the pixel pipelines.

Well, sometimes you can change the pipelilnes, by softmodding/unlocking more pipelines, but I've heard that you can't do this with the RV570 (X1950 Pro) core. But yes, the number of pixel shader units and vertext shader units is a very important number to consider when choosing a GFX card.

The RV570 is a core specially developed for the X1950Pro so it isnt unlockable. For now youll be good with stock cooling cause there arent any OCing programs out there that support the card yet.
In the future will be of course but maybe the card OC's pretty well with the stock cooler, or the OCing overall with any cooler could also be crap as hell so worrying about that now is a little early.
Let other people buy coolers and mod their card first. It saves you money and youll know the result when you decide to do it.

What brand of X1950Pro doesnt really matter the 5mhz difference from one card to another doesnt mean anything. Just buy the cheapest one.

The card has 4px pipes less but what the heck, its fast! Faster then a 7900GS anyway. And to make things better it has new special crossfire support, no more crappy cables, just bridges like SLI. So when it isnt good enough anymore in the future just crossfire the thing

how long will it most likely be before any overclocking program supports the x1950pro. cause my parents dont like ordering stuff so if a month after i get the card it can be overclocked but it needs a aftermarket cooler to do overclock well then it will be hard for me to obtain one.

plus the zv9 looks a lot better then the one that comes on it.

Why not just get the Powercolor or HIS one? They both after aftermarket coolers on them. Or if you can find the Gigabyte one it has a Zalman cooler already on it. And as I said I OC'd my Pro with the Cat 6.11's.
